The Xtrail biggest issue are those Jatco supplied xtronic CVTs which has a high failure rate and the MR20DD engine is known for its excessive carbon build up. Outside of that, they seem to be okay. If you're inclined to patronize a Nissan product then wait for the T33 Xtrail as seen in this almost final rendering pic attached.

Here is a list of little crossovers/CUVs or mini SUVs, that can be had for $200k and under. Times are hard so for the few who looking for something brand new with warranty but dont want to break the bank, consider the following:

BAIC x25 1.5 - $155k
Suzuki Ignis 1.2 - $157k
Datsun Cross 1.2 - $169k
Hyundai i20 Activ 1.2 - $175k
Hyundai Venue 1.6 - $185k
Hyundai Creta 1.6 - $190k
Chevrolet Trax LS 1.4T - $195k
Ford EcoSport 1.0T - $200k
Suzuki Jimny 1.5 - $200k
Suzuki Vitara GL 1.6 - $200k
Suzuki XL7 1.5 - $200k

Wow, 4 Suzukis in that list. How do the folks in the forum feel about the Vitara vs. the "yet to be released locally" CX-30 coming from Mazda?

Suzuki has the small segment cornered. Small engines incurring less taxes makes them more affordable. Mazda doesnt have a crossover with a smaller engine than a 2.0L and that is their downside locally.

Actually the CX3 is available as a 1.5 or 1.8 diesel in the JDM. The CX30 is available as a 1.8 diesel as well. However, I cannot say if our fuel will be suitable.

A CHEF has issued a pre-action protocol letter to Massy Motors as she seeks a $199,000 refund for a vehicle purchased from the company.

Victoria Hackshaw of Williamsville, claimed in the letter, that several times the vehicle malfunctioned while she was driving. She has returned the car.
The self-employed chef has since been relying on public transportation or the courtesies of relatives to transport her to destinations.
The pre-action protocol letter, headed 'breach of contract' was sent from law firm Leon Williams Associates. It stated that in August 2018, Hackshaw purchased from the company’s showroom, a Hyundai Creta for her personal enjoyment and safety.

The letter, addressed to Massy Motor’s CEO, also said that four months later, on December 22 2018, while Hackshaw drove along the highway, the vehicle “started losing power, the gear lever became stuck and the gauges on the dash board began to function sporadically.” With the car’s first service being January 7 2019, it was taken to the company on this January date. A road/quality test was done and the vehicle was returned to Hackshaw with the assurance that it was safe to drive, the letter stated.

It was said that she experienced a similar problem in February. Hackshaw once again took the car to Massy Motors where, as stated on an invoice, road test and oil treatment were done.
On May 16, the second service date under warranty, the vehicle underwent road and quality checks, another invoice stated. The car was once more returned to Hackshaw.
“However on October 16 2019, our client would experience another bout of life threatening experiences as one again the vehicle malfunctioned while she was actively driving,” her attorney’s letter stated.

She took the car back to the company the following day. “After a diagnostic test was performed and there was an adjustment of the adaptive valves by your company, the vehicle was delivered to our client with yet another blanket reassurance of safety.”
The following month however, the letter said, “Our client will once again be thrust into a state of panic and anxiety resultant of the fact of the real prospect of loss of life and or damage to property due to another malfunction of the vehicle.”

Hackshaw took the Hyundai Creta to the company where it has remained since November 25 2019. Two days after this date, she was contacted to remove personal belongs from the car and a week later was offered a courtesy vehicle. She however returned this courtesy vehicle the following month.

Hackshaw said twice she was contacted by the company with an offer of payments less than the $199,000 amount she paid for the car.
In the letter, she called for reimbursement of the purchase price.

Massy Motors replied that it would respond in 28 days, by February 26 2020. This was not forthcoming and Hackshaw has instructed her attorney to file a claim against the company.

There was an error made in the 5th paragraph. What should have been typed was "adaptive values" and not "adaptive valves" lol.

Cheap thing no good, good thing no cheap...lol. But seriously those vehicles are assembled in India for a lesser market, so expect some lemons.

I can't call an ignis, and some other vehicles on this list crossovers(Datsun cross/i20.) Those are hatchbacks.
If the manufactures want to call them that to sell more vehicles... Can't stop them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence bro.

So previously, we looked at the $150k to $200k bracket. Now let's bring the range from $201k to $250k

What are the crossover choices in that segment? Let's have a look:

Hyundai Creta GL 1.6 mid - $204k
Ford EcoSport Titanium 1.0T - $205k
Kia Seltos 1.6 - $210k
Hyundai Venue 1.6 fully loaded - $210k
Toyota Rush 1.5 basic - $210k
Kia Niro Hybrid 1.6 basic - $211k
Suzuki XL7 GLX 1.5 - $220k
Suzuki SX4 S-Cross 1.6 - $221k
Chevrolet Trax LT 1.4T - $222k
Suzuki Vitara GLX 1.6 mid - $228k
Toyota Rush 1.5 mid - $229k
Hyundai Creta GLS 1.6 - $229k
Subaru XV 1.6i - $229k
Kia Sportage LX 1.6 - $230k
Kia Niro Hybrid 1.6 fully loaded - $235k
Suzuki Vitara GLX 1.6 fully loaded - $235k

What stands out to me are those 2 Kia Niros. Despite full tax exemption status, the fully equipped model is on par with others that are subject to full taxes. I guess we ought to be grateful because otherwise, that Niro could have been in the high 200s!

I have a feeling it's the 1.6i-S model because I cannot see how the sedan can cost more than the starter XV which is $229k. But then again, Massy does have a history of thinking that people are stupid so I won't put it past them. Either way, you get standard 7 airbags, touch screen head unit with smart phone integration, electronic parking brake, alloy wheels, all around disc brakes, AWD and the usual power features we come to expect.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross didn’t make this list?

I'm actually creating lists based on a price bracket. So I started off with the 150 to 200k then the most recent one being 201 to 250k.

The next list I'm creating will have the eclipse cross in it because it starts @ 289k for the fabric seats non sunroof model.

Fun fact grey market calling 325 and 350k for the new one when this is the bargain pickup elsewhere in the world yes.

I'm seeing the Sportage LK on sale for 215K. Is that a NA 1.6 or the same 1.6T that Hyundai uses?
