Full Ground Zero SQ Build

Postby headshok » July 13th, 2011, 1:31 pm

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone’s doing good. Haven posted up a build in quite a while.

Think its time to start posting.

For 2011, we’ve been doing very well with Ground Zero products. I must admit though I first knew about Ground Zero through the SPL guys, their SQ products are pretty amazing.

Car is done at my local distributor Dimension Audio 

Anyway, enough talking, lets start the build.

Gear that is going into this car

HU: Alpine #F1 head unit and processor
Amps: GZ Reference Amps ( 2 x 4 channel, 1 x 2 channel)
Sub: GZ Uranium 12” woofer.
Speakers: GZ Reference 3 way
Power Wiring: Shok Industries Reference Series

Gutting out the car first

Image

Anyway, starting up with wiring.

We like our SQ cars wired up like ground pounders  So 2 runs of 0 gauge ( 1 +ve and 1 –ve) and the big 3 done up front.

Image

Image

Pulling the wire all the way to the back

Image

Image

Image

Image

test fitting the F1 processor at the back. Just to see where we can put it

Image

the GZ 12” sub chilling at the side

And now how shall we fit the amps. Stayed tuned for more.

Cheers all

Now that's how you install wires for the ultimate groundpounder

Just curious - why the 0 guage -ve cable? Is it going to have lower resistance than the car's chassis?

hi guys,

just to reply the + and -ve thingy.

Personally, I am a bass head and i enjoy loud high power systems. In those loud high power systems, you see people running multiple runs of 1/0 gauge in order to keep their amplifiers happy ( coupled with batts and alternator upgrades).

without all this, the amplifier will not be able to perform effectively right?

Now apply this concept to a SQ setup. Audiophile grade amplifiers do require good electrical support. Deprive it of the electrical support it needs, it will not perform.

In my previous SQ setup ( the genesis fiat bravo), upon doing the 0 ga ground, main difference was that, back ground noise was quieter and this resulted in a deeper sound stage. the effect was instant!

Our concept is that, we share some " traits" from the SPL guys, ie the " beefy electrical". our previous SQ fiat bravo was running 15v in his setup :)

So anyway, if you guys have the time, go give it a try. you'll be surprised.

P.S all our amps are grounded to a ground block and the ground block has the 0 ga that goes back to the batt. thus nothing is grounded in the chasis ( other than the batt up front)

What are the pro's n con's of a -ve run?

I just explained the pros.

the cons, cable is expensive and is a beyotch to pull more cable through the fire wall :)

heheh..

cheers

heyaa.

actually, the F1 headunit has a video out which can be connected to the double din .

So for daily driving, to see what you have playing, just look at the dvd screen and press the steering remote to change tracks/ volume. :)

So lets continue

So we got the woofer box behind.

Laying the amp rack above. There are a total of 3 amps. So one amp will be tucked below beside the woofer, and 2 on top

then we got the cover for the amp rack

and here we go..

Image

what do we have here

Stay tuned for more 
