Is the switch to the s76 to allow more freight or more fuel allowing more range/stops?

I just wanna see if they're gonna hover or just run on the wheels around the airport.

Beautiful photos and excellent posts.

On a historical note, does anyone have photographs of the Gazelles that we operated ?

Those pix are rare. There's one (partial) on Pg.8. "Golf Uniform", formerly of the Air Division of MNS. That pix was taken at the Chaguaramas Heliport.

The Air Division had four (04) Sud-Aviation 341G Gazelle (1973) aircraft:
9Y-TFN
9Y-TFO
9Y-TFU
9Y-TGU

And two (02) Sikorsky S-76A (1982) aircraft:
9Y-TGW
9Y-TGX

Thanks a heap!

Four ? I was always under the impression that there were only 3.

I believe 2 were lost - or was it 3 ?

This is a big bit of new information for me.

Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for this. How many were lost in accidents ? Does anyone have any details of the accidents ?

There is a chap from Croatia who is trying to learn about all the Gazelle operators and, surprise, surprise, he came upon Trinidad !

One was due to running out of fuel and the other I thin was engine failure

Yup. 1978, 9Y-TFO (NS-1, TTDF-2): The then National Security Minister John Donaldson, was being flown to Tobago to view the effects of an oil spill following an oil tanker collision. Officially the aircraft ran out of fuel and was forced to ditch, (but), unofficially, since we all know pilots calculate fuel loads with accuracy and precision, all I have to say is RHIPs. I'm sure you can figure out the rest.......

1994, 9Y-TFN (NS-2, TTDF-3) Another aircraft lost all power on approach to the Chaguaramas heliport, and went down close to the shore line.

I recall 9Y-TFU went down somewhere in the northern range (could be wrong). Status unknown.

1996, 9Y-TGU was sold to a private operator in the US (N7448Y) and and the last known civil registration was SX-HDL (Greece). See photo below:
