SnipeR's Build Log

Postby SnipeR » January 26th, 2012, 3:47 pm

Hey guys, been a while since I've did anything new in the car audio scene. Decided to start work on my new system. Now before anything else, I'll let y'all know that this build will be slow  . Vehicle is a 2005 KIA Sorento. Gonna pace myself with this build as it is gonna be something different from what I'm used to. System consists of Polk Audio 6.5's (4), a RF 3SIXTY.2, JVC KW-AVX840, an Audiocontrol Epicenter,a PPI PC 4800.2 and a Pioneer Premier TS-W5000SPL. Trying to find a decent monoblock or two channel that gives around 1000rms@2ohms. Now for a few pics :)

Image

Image

Ugly rusted epicenter...I know. Fix for that...
Sanded the bastard down!
Image

Gonna repaint it in a similar gun metal finish as the 3SIXTY. Also, changing the orange LED's to blue ones, also to match the 3SIXTY. Will get the "Audiocontrol" and "The Epicenter" stickers made...maybe custom. Not sure yet.

Up front, I'm using a 200A breaker instead of a fuse.

Image

Image

Rest of the system:
Rca/Signal cables are all Monster Cable
Power wires are Stinger Hyperflex (from previous build)
Batteries are XS Power D3100's (one up front, one in the back)
Dampening would be Dynamat Xtreme (Got some left over from SR)

Open to any criticism whether it be constructive or otherwise  . Also, any advice given would be taken into consideration....

Only reason I'm using this sub is because I had it there doing nothing... trying to keep within a budget.
All the items that aren't brand new in box are left overs from a previous build.

Well I was thinking *at least* 1000rms. If I get something near 1500rms I'll take it as well. Had experience with the JVC AV830 (model right before this one) and I loved it. When this came out, I had to get it! :)

d only downfall off that deck iirc is jvc doesnt make a remote for it right ?

i remember 3stage saying d only reason he sold his 5000spl was because d weight was costing him more $ in gas .....

Already have the remote. JVC made remotes that work with a range of their head units but doesn't sell one bundled with this deck. I got a compatible one (JVC RM-RK252P) off ebay for a little under 20USD brand new.

^^ that would do nicely with the sub. Will check with you sometime...

Found these on a shelf I was cleaning in the garage.

Leftover from a previous build...bought them as spares. Worked really well in the other install so I think I'll use them in this install as well.

Update:

Started work on the doors. Wanted to get the amp rack done but as I said before, don't have the time like before. Also, the weather is keeping me back right now too. Got one door done today.

Two layers (three in some areas) of accumat on the inner panel and basically two layers of dynamat extreme on the outer panel. Will get the next rear door done between tomorrow and Thursday hopefully. Really enjoying this build as it's something different to what I'm accustomed to.
