Sounds like me Brotherhood, I usually drove hard and paid the price for it as well because many a times a hole that was not there a week or two before just suddenly appeared, so I would usually slam brakes and try to avoid. In doing so, the inner or outer edge of the rim would ketch the end of the hole and there would be a loud bang...rim bend/rim crack and twice I burst the tyre.
The roads just deplorable and not suited for big rims...

I run 18x81/2" rims, for three years now. With 40 series tyres. No problems. The problem is, that guys do not put enough pressure in their tyres for one. And run 35 series tyres, AND buy heavy ass chrome rims that damage easily.

There was a time when I used to run through tyres every 4 months or so. guy at speedway told me that I was not putting enough pressure when I told him is 30 my mech told me to put. He told me I should at least be putting 35-40psi because of the thin profile with the 35 series. Started putting 35 then 40 soon after and never looked back, tyre shop didnt see me again either
You're right. My younger brother pumps 28-30 psi on 35 series with chrome. When I tell him to put 34psi which I use for the chrome, he thinks I talking sheit.
