SQ Stealth Install- Advice Please

Postby Narry » May 5th, 2012, 1:42 pm

Gentlemen,

I'm doing a SQ Stealth install in an Audi A4 (B6 model) and asking for some advice on the choice of Sub(s), the Amp to power it and Sub placement.

I would like to keep as much trunk space as possible with free access to the spare tyre.

The aim is to keep the car looking original as possible but with great SQ. I don't need to be heard from down the block - but just enough bump inside the car to make you smile.

The system thus far:

HU - Alpine iDA-X305SBT
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500IDA305B/Alpine-iDA-X305SBT-Package.html?tp=5684

Processing unit : Alpine PXA-H100 IMPRINT™ Audio Processor
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500PXAH100/Alpine-PXA-H100-IMPRINT-Audio-Processor.html

Door Speakers : Focal PS 165 2-way components on front and back doors
http://www.focal.com/en/car-audio-sound/speakers-drivers/2-way-speakers-kit/ps-165.php

4 Channel Amp: JL Audio XD400/4
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136XD4004/JL-Audio-XD400-4.html?tp=35782

Any advice on the choice of SQ sub and amp that will work well with my system would be appreciated.

Any experienced installers willing to do the install? If so, please pm me the cost.

Thanks in advance guys!

You could try an infinite baffle if you're feeling adventurous, i don't know what range you intend to have those focals cover, but with a low qts driver you can probably cover 50 down strongly. Orr use a small sub like an 8w7/w3 in good enclosure that shouldn't take up much space. JL has stealth boxes, but i don't trust em + never heard em.

I myself was gonna suggest a JL or ID as they usually require small enclosures. A fiberglass enclosure for the side of the trunk wont even be noticeable.

Placing the enclosure at the sides of the trunk seems like a good idea - especially for a smaller sub like the 8". Good thinking.

Would the SQ be affected if there was a sub on either side of the trunk - in terms of phase interference?

I suggest you give this dude a call at 678-9885:

he has quite a lot of experience in custom installs and worked on a lot of cars like your before, he may be able to give some advice, guidance and do the job as well.
