Suzuki Alto S1500 project

Postby FastMan246 » August 7th, 2012, 3:59 am

Hello Trinidad and the others of the Caribbean (from Barbados).
I am currently in the process of building a Suzuki Alto/Fronte(last generation).
Parts im using/ have :
Engine: M15a (Ignis Sport)
Gearbox: Close Ratio
Suspension: Tien Coil Over GreenStuff
Exhaust: unrestricted straight flow 2.5" pipe

Plans: full rebuild, 13:1 HC Pistons, Garrett Gt35, water/meth injection and anything worthwhile suggested by you guys :)

Btw..the car is getting a full(ish) composite wide body [fenders. bumpers, bonnet, trunk, roof and may be the panels replacing the back doors.

why are u going high compression and forced induction? ....and that turbo seems way to big anyway

ive seen the engine produce a reliable 300whp with low comp pistons and a t3/t4 turbo with a forged bottom end and ported head. ...ure also gonna need a custom intake manifold (or swift sport) as the plastic blows open at 14psi.

good luck with your build and keep us posted

hey thanks man but ive got an alloy intake already and about the HC pistons i was just trying to see if a forged high comp short block would work but i guess some where around 10:1? i dont want to go to low at 9 or 8 and i'll use a smaller turbo thanks again.

If you want to talk about high compression and its limits, I suggest you get in contact with Collin Reid from Barbados.

Hey, it's been almost a year since i have been here but the car is well on its way and the overall project has drastically changed direction. Pictures will be uploaded soon...there are plenty including the alto this thread is about and 4 other shop projects : SR20det 120y, RB25 94 Cefiro, Turbo ss Gti Baleno (1300) and RB25det (has on GT R goodies)

S1500 Alto/Fronte Update:

Engine / Drivetrain

M15a (ignis sport 12.1:1 version, turbo, t3 t4 with greddy emanage, greddy cams, swift sport intake)

5 speed close ratio box (cusco LSD, monster sport gear kit, suzuki works sequential shifter; all came from a wrecked japanese ignis/swift sport, custom hydraulic clutch slave and master set up)

Custom axles: shortened, rejoint, sleeved and welded

Brakes/Suspension
D2 32 way adjustable Coilover front & rear

ignis rear disc brake set up (stock)

ignis front hubs, integra (dc2) 280mm front rotors, custom mounted 4 piston nissan calipers *switching to wilwood superlite on stage 2 of the build

custom subframe and chassis rail to mount engine and gearbox

lots of work done and the engine is not even completely in due to an error made buy the dealers regarding the mounts: ht81s mounts were ordered and they brought zc31s mounts which will require heavy modification on the top left side chassis...until then the focus will shift to other parts of the project. Suggestions & questions welcomed.

They are monster sport for the standard bore and are also available from a European companyhttp://dastecnology.com/Ignis-Sport-EN

Ok from the pics you can tell that part of the shop's a mess :x (all clean now) and the pics were taken with a poor cellphone camera but i hope you see the key elements and none of the performance parts are really on...just test fitted and placed in storage and the pics of the other projects are coming.

Ps: there are about 200 pictures but due to slow upload...just btw

more pics...

EDIT: the turbo manifold and turbo do not belong to this project! the turbo is a ct9 hybrid on a toyota noah. there is a thought to use this turbo for low boost (10 psi) on the street for a very responsive throttle and swap the big turbo for drag events (4 times a year) since it would need a retune but im really not sure.what you guys think? And one other factor...this may either end up being a weekend car or not be on the streets at all and of course if that happens the car will maintain a big turbo and aggressive, hopefully with less traction issues than the turbo gti men  "hopefully" lol....i think i'll have a lot more with a 620 kg shell and 300 whp

A dyno has just been installed in the shop next to ours (six roads bin bim btw) and luckily dads good friends with the owner

I think a CT9 would really be too small for an M15A. I myself was thinking about using one purely for low-mid power and no lag but it will probably have to spin too fast, generate a lot of heat and die fairly quickly. Might as well go straight to a T25 or T28 Ball bearing turbo. Should spool by 2500rpm and would make good power. There is a M15 in Trinidad making around 180whp at just 8-10psi and no lag to talk about.

I'm really tempted to do a similar project on my car.

Wow nice figures for such little boost...you guys should hear some more about the car soon it has to be complete by september for drags...gonna see how a gt28 does with the high flow m15/18 hybrid..yeh the ct9 isn't strong to begin with...got some new rims and other small parts recently...pics to come

Is it a high comp or low comp m15a?
