Tennis Rolls

Postby silent_riot » November 20th, 2013, 2:35 pm

My dad brought a type of bread back from his Guyana trip called Tennis Rolls.
It looks like a large dinner roll with an orange and lemon flavour.
De ting does forkin lash.

Anyone knows if they are sold down here and where?

Nah, not like hops.
It's as large as a hops, but has the consistency and moisture of a dinner roll, and a distinctive orange & lemon taste.

Shouldn't it be rolls tennis on account of "chicken curry"?

Oh, I thought it was generic like hops.
I don't usually eat bread, but this tastes good.

from what I gather it's not a secret recipe of one company - the same way bakeries in T&T make hops is the same way bakeries in Guyana have tennis rolls

http://www.stabroeknews.com/2010/the-sc ... %E2%80%A6/

as with Hops bread it is difficult to make it at home to get that bakery look, feel and taste. Even some bakeries in Trinidad can't seem to get hops bread right.

not a secret recipe, it aright, cant touch bakewell plait bread though. Strange that trinis so ignorant of island food though. Islands have some great food, pepper pot is epic! so is garlic pork. both very popular in guyana.

from the recipe it is not much different than a brioche bread with addition of citrus peel
ie bread with more than normal egg, milk, butter

a brioche bread is also something worth tasting.

yeah my bad on the island foods thing...guyana on the continent. Most of the settlement is on the coast though, so they might as well be island folk.
