Postby Densil » April 15th, 2014, 9:14 pm

Anybody have the model numbers for the DBA T3 4000 Slotted rotors for a Legacy GT 2008? Im getting conflicting numbers..

so far it looks like :-
Front - DBA42650S
Rear - DBA4653S

but im also seeing a
Front - DBA4650S (no #2)

Anybody own these that can confirm?

Ok..I got my hands in a 2013 catalog and did some more reading...apparently DBA are using a new universal design for slotted rotors ...which eliminate the need for left and right versions...the rotors used to come in part numbers e.g DBA42650SL and DBA42650SR ....so now they are dropping the last letter. .so the newer model would just be DBA42650S...

jus double check before ordering as from what i remember the dba 4000 series are direction specific whereas the T3 5000 clubspecs are uni-directional...

Yeah. .I went to a few sites and put in the year model etc and that's the numbers that came up. . DBA42650S for the front and DBA4653S for the back.... The DBA4650S are used for the older legacy models 02 to 04....Well that's what I got from the chart. .

DBA's are whey overated
why don't u try stoptech..its 2600 for the front pair

if u insist on the DBA's u can use the USDM specs to get the correct number. the rotor size and specs are the same as the JDM's

also wat about dixcel? it's a big brand in japan..makes some nice rotors

^^^ Haha u believe that..kewl stuff. Slotted rotors..slotted/drilled are really beneficial to guys to track their cars regularly. The stock rotor does its job but unfortunately in massey the stock rotor is whey more expensive than the aftermarket..so if you must don't go all rolls royce..u can give the stoptech's a go..they r a pretty big deal in the US

u can get stoptech from adah up in st augustine. I went tru two pairs of DBA's on the legacy and personally i'm not sure if it worth the price..warped in record time too even with proper bed in procedure.maybe i got a lemon lol

DBA's drilled n slotted have the looks imo...if thats what you goin for, but been rocking the stoptech w/stoptech pads on both legacy's and no probs thus far.but watever u do..avoid hawk pads like the plague lol

I really have been hearing bad reviews of the hawk pads...Will at least recently....I heard they used to be good...but not anymore....some ppl say even Wagner's pads are better..lol.....So far..I've been hearing good things about project mu

Also.I.was looking at the slotted and drilled...but all I've been hearing is to avoid drilled....The benefits are negligible...And they tend to crack at the holes....again..this is what I was told..And I also read it on some other legacy forums

Oh ...I have one more question....if I wanted to keep my stock 17 rims....which I don't think could handle a brembo upgrade.....are the sti calipers from the wrx workable or better than the stock calipers?..The idea is upgrade to probably Dba rotors and change out to the sti calipers....does that make sense.? Can it work?..

tried project mu back in 2011..very jdm..didn't fade that much under heavy braking and that was with dba's at the time...but if u can get ur hands on em fine..if not..either posiquiet or stoptech should be fine

wagner...yes..if u have a b 14 lol
drilled is all looks unless u have some high end euro spec car with cross drilled carbon ceramic rotors

nope, ur stock 17" rim might be 7-7.5" maybe..only 8" and over u can handle brembo's

the '08 wrx sti's come with the sti caliper..but u'd have to change the rim size to retrofit

@ legacyspecb ...quite a few ppl use dbas locally for street and track use on multiple platforms without any negative side effects......maybe your driving style is more suited to a diff rotor/pad set up...but happy to see someone else offer an alternative to dba with success...

@hawks - used them as well and they've always held up...the HPS version + brembo rotors....

there's the HPS+ version as well that seem to be ok at the price point.

none of the above will matter wrt stopping if your tyres are crap....

I've been out of the subie game for a while , but I've never had any complaints with the DBA 4000XS and Hawk HPS pads on my leggy. And I used to push those muthafuckers HARD.
Decent cold bite, excellent hot bite, low brake fade, low noise, predictable braking under spirited driving. Dusty as firetruck tho.
Great for a daily street warrior, probably not as good for the track or race conditions.

I agree...low threadwear tyres really seal the deal wrt braking. Anyting under 300 TW is a good place to start.
