74 foot brand new Sport fishing Yacht SINKs on route to T&T

Postby BRZ » January 14th, 2016, 10:49 pm

Apparently the 74' sport fishing was on its maiden voyage to Trinidad to its new owner , when shortly after fueling up in Puerto Rico it hit a reef and partially sank, it's rumored to be about $8 mill US dollars.

https://www.facebook.com/aseguratubote/

It's also on thehulltruth.com

Damn what a waste of a boat....... I wonder if it was insured? How ironic it would be if it's not as the owner is ...................

Sad, seems like a beautiful boat, is the liability with the owner of the shipbuilder, seems it was a delivery run

Nah,it hit a reef ,so not the builder's liability. This yacht has all the latest navigation electronics so I can't even understand how this happened, unless the captain was not paying attention.

There is nothing like a simple patch up. Once it was underwater, nothing in it really good again except the hull. Every piece of wiring and electronics has to be changed, all the fittings and upholstery has to be changed or refurbished .Salt would take it's toll down the road.
If you bought a new boat, you don't want that again, if it is insured let the company pay you and the salvage is theirs.
The people who are hired to sail down these imports are usually hurry to collect their $10 g USD and don't take their time. Most of the time when a boat reach Trinidad you have to do extensive work on it. They only get the job because it's too expensive to ship with Dockwise and in any event their last port of call is Martinique.

yacht owner heard yacht maintenance and repairs in trinidad are now vatable...and decided to sink his ship before reaching, was more cost effective dat way.

probably a scam to collect the insurance since the recession hit.

if you have 50million coconut dollars to spend that i am sure you can afford to pay a competent crew to sail it
