I keep hearing ppl talking bout swap it for a SR20 but I am a bit skeptical about cross breading as they call it
Does the mount's lineup the same as the BH or will I have to get someone to welder?
And what about wiring does anyone have a diagram for that?
Does it make sense going SR20
Even tho a complete z5 is hard to get now. What you guys think.

You could go zlve or fsde easily. I wouldn't bother to work up an Sr when a zl is a direct swap

And why does my 323 look different? mine have twp headlights in one lense...the outer is low and the inner comes on with the high beam..and my I.D. lights are integrated in with the tail lights...is this what they call a foreign used version?

my dashboard lights are flickering. Is that an alternator problem? it was recently changed and the plug going into the alternator was also changed...i also have a brand new Optima yellow top battery... i heard that it could be the resistor in the alternator or to change the battery terminals

When is it flickering? Only when driving? Or when parked as well? Check with a multimeter if it's happening when parked to narrow it down.

Follow the coolant hose right over the tranny there is a flange you will see a single black wire with a black connector that is the connector the other Grey two pin connector is the coolant temp sensor

Good Day Everyone,

I have a 2002 Mazda 323 protege with a stock zmde engine and automatic transmission. My transmission needs to be replaced and I am looking for either an automatic transmission or a manual gearbox. They are very difficult to locate,
Can anyone assist me in locating one?. Is there any cheaper and easier alternatives that I can consider?

.

So after watching a YOu tube video , high engine bay temp , disrupting possibly the cam shaft sensor , I had it replaced , problem still persist , so when I drive with the bonnet open ...no issues , guess it's a over heating thing , but temp gauge normal ...haha

I am having the exact same problem. The abs brain is on the pump and the 323f Singapore and Japanese brains seem to have differences. The speedo in this model relies on an abs wheel speed sensor for the speedo signal. So you must get a local/singapore abs pump to fix that issue. I tried 2 foreign used pumps and still the same issue. Try unjacking the new pump, jack in the old one and the speedo should work again, just you would have to find a safe spot to strap the old pump near the new one if you intend to leave in like that.

bumping an old thread!

Need some help with 2 issues, car is 2002 BJ singapore protege model.

the car has a ZL engine installed with the original ZM ecu.

1st problem is no transmission selection light on the instrument panel
2nd problem is when the selector is put into low gear manually it changes from 1st to 2nd when driving and then when its in 2nd gear it runs out all the gears normal instead of keeping it to 2nd.

already checked the neutral safety switch.

Did you make any progress with this? To me the logical first step would've been to use the appropriate ECM.
