No pun intended.Ex-Minister’s wife reports him to copsBy Nalinee Seelal Saturday, July 23 2016
THE wife of a former government minister went to the Four Roads Police Station on Wednesday and reported to officers that she was physically assaulted by him at their home located in West Trinidad. The weeping young woman later told officers she did not want any formal police action nor did she wish to seek medical attention.
However, she requested that officers accompany her to her home to retrieve her belongings and young child. The woman told officers that following a heated argument she was beaten by her husband. She also indicated that she is contemplating divorce proceedings saying this was not the first time that the ex-minister had been violent towards her.
Sources revealed that armed officers accompanied the young woman to her home where she was able to retrieve her clothing and other valuables while being closely monitored by two police officers. The former Minister was also at the house when the police returned with his wife. Newsday understands that because the woman did not request any police action in the matter, the former government minister was not questioned by officers.
Newsday understands that the woman is no longer staying at her husband’s home. Efforts to reach the former minister for a comment on the incident proved futile.
