With the recent rain, i have discovered my trunk leaks. A lot.
Water seems to be getting below the trunk rubber seal. The water channel around the trunk is not rotted and there are no holes, yet water enters like a pipe. Flooded my carpet etc.
Additionally, pic below shows the lip starting to rust on the surface. Been leaking a while apparently.
Any suggestions on sealing the rubber? Current one has no tears, is very flexible and "clips" on very tightly to the lip and it makes good contact with the trunk lid when closed, so don't see how a new rubber will be of any help. As a last resort i may get a new one.
I plan to wire brush the rust shown and use touch up paint, however, is there any rust proof type paint i can prime with? Can red oxide be used or is there an automotive specific one i can get?
