Guttering repaint

I have white aluminium guttering around my house which has to be cleaned ever so often because of moss. I am looking at some repaint of it that will make it look decorative. I have seen some people paint theirs black but i think that may be too dull. although the aim is to prevent it from looking unsightly with moss.

try to get white paint with PVDF coating, this coating prevents the moss etc. This is the main reason why I went with a brown roof and guttering...

Why not fix the guttering so that water does not settle. That might get rid of the moss issue.

Been looking for something like this too.
The external surface of the guttering gets unsightly after some years, even with pressure washing. It's difficult to maintain white guttering on a 2 storey house.

Use of a water based enamel coating instead of a oil based one with proper surface prep will help with the problem. Oil based coating encourages the growth of moss, mold and mildew after some time. Pressure washing also abraids the surface so after the initial cleaning the surface catches moisture and dirt encouraging the moss etc to grow back more quickly.
Use a product like simple green to kill and remove moss etc, pressure wash and use a water based enamel coating and you should be fine for a few years if done right.

I used something called Wet and Forget on some lime stone tiles and an area of concrete and it keeps away moss and mildew for over 6 months - I wanna try it on the gutter too

Read the MSDS first on those products before deciding to use, MSDS not readily available on website says alot, product is toxic and caustic and also listed as a pesticide due to its chemical composition. While it may obviously work well for certain situations I might think twice before using in active water ways if pets are in the equation.

I have no pets but I wouldnt want to put chemicals into the water ways. It is on the outside of the gutter and not the inside though.

the paint line was A100 at the time however now they have a line Emerald which should be better than the A100 however I never used that one yet

Penta also has a line up on paints formulated for gutters however I have not used that yet.

I suggest you call one of these two companies and speak to paint specialist not a sales rep.

You should not use A-100 or Emerald on your guttering from Sherwin-Williams the Emerald is supposed the best coating on the market and the A-100 is tried and proven in Trini for a very long time but are not the best choice. The product you would be looking for from Sherwin-Williams product you would be looking for from them would be the Latex Based All Surface Enamel or the Kool Seal Roof Coating.
As for locally manufactured stuff I do not trust because from time to time you may or may not get the same quality product because of availability of raw materials when they are importing. For treating problems I would recommend sticking to companies that can readily provide Data Sheets and MSDS for their products so you can decide for yourself and as you said speak to someone who knows what they are talking about. There are better industrial products out there but they may cost you. Locally available would recommend Sherwin-Williams or Jotun marine coatings. You however would get better service and support from Sherwin-Williams
Whatever you do surface prep is the most important thing with any coating.

Reviving an old thread. I need to get my guttering and flashing washed for the same moss issue above.

Called several numbers in the newspaper and Trinicars that advertise pressure washing but they want to do the entire roof. Job too small i guess.

My roof is clean, just the guttering and flashing dirty. Anyone have any leads on who does this in Central area on a flat house?

Since it's low, try spraying it with a diluted bleach:water mixture (1:2)
It's gonna smell bad, but I used this on walls, floors and pvc guttering with some success.
Better than pressure washing.

Guttering causing problems, get rid of it!

Use United Cleaning Concentrate to clean, call lifetime solutions for it, I'll get the supplier for it today, it's environmentally friendly, use either berger quick drying enamel, penta or Sherwin Williams roof latex. Enamel is better for power washing later on.
