I agree that it is overdone, but at the end of the day viewership and sponsors and advertisers call the shots. You get enough complaints and the network is obliged to do something, sometimes to the detriment of a show.

I agree the SIARPC was the weakest part of the show, unless it was an F1 driver on the second timing board.

Episode 1 did not have the celebrity part, so we'll see if next week's one in Johannesburg has one.

I have a feeling the star in a car wouldn't be back, BBC maybe did that to boost ratings, now they really don't need anymore boosting plus the way they "killed" the celebs makes me hope they are killing that segment, was a waste of time really.

a real effort was made to keep the same features of the Top Gear show though.
Their own test track, a racing driver, a leaderboard.

Any other show did those things and ppl would say they were copying Top Gear wholesale.

Yeah, I also thought that meant they killed off that segment. But I used to enjoy it though.

I don't have unblockus etc active right now and I watched it on Amazon Prime via the website on a computer and on the app on an iPad. No region error for Trinidad.

Just finished watch it. Turns out the region problem is only on my phone. I used a laptop hooked up to my TV. Fine as ever.

Notes:
*Nice to see them back
*LoL @ TG references
*LoL @ Dead celebrity guests
*Love the new test track
*The name of the show makes sense now that I know how it's being done.
*The Hypercar Trinity is epic.

Show is sheit. Set against a stuoid white audience. Test track is sheit. In fact, they need to stop towing that donkey ass. Hammond and May have so much potential of themselves without having to depend on Clarkson. The show lacks originality. The intro was sheit.. Yall may support That trio for bringing Auto shows to the level where it is, but truth is that it's really BBC production team that has aced it. And you can tell that this new show is going to be just one long 12 week episode of the documentary that Clarkson and Hammond did back in 2014. If I wanted a sitcom I'd rent Smokey and the Bandit. Not this recycled tewse that they pandering to you sheep.

Gimme this team. Rory Reid is an awesome presenter. BBC scored well to cast him in Top Gear.

The only thing that Grand Tour proved was that it takes balls to drive the Mc Laren P1. At least BBC got it right and fired Chris Evans. Amazon will observe thier US Audience wither away as Clarkson tries to impose his obnoxious way of auto journalism to them.

Even thier graphics is from season 20 of Top Gear.

Zro originality. That show is soo much sheit eh... Brown soft tewse that does splatter on the bowl.... Tewse.

hadda (grudgingly) agree with the rasta
after all the hype, GT was an underwhelming rehash of TG, with a less than subtle pander to american audiences...
the 'track' is a joke, the dead celebs seemed like a time filler / drawn out poke at TG's celeb interview / drive, and they could have done so much more with the trinity (the cars, not the hosts as they were implying with the episode title). The 'drag race' was an insult to proper gear heads...I mean, jeez....I mean yeah, they'll always score points for the masses for tyre smoke and explosions, but raise the pitch of Clarkson's voice, and he wasn't too far off from the annoying ginger. I can see the mass appeal, but I'll hang on to Reid, Harris and LeBlanc
You'd think with a clean slate and massive budget, they could do better than just carry on with the old TG format :|

Will be interesting to see how much traction their social media platform "DriveTribe" will get. They have some good names on it already.

Compare and contrast

I enjoyed the grand tour tremendously. But the above was better IMHO.

So there is some backlash to Clarkson labeling the track the Eboladrome!!

I don't think people realize how much of these shows is scripted, from the reviews to the jokes to the inter-host banter.....it's pretty clear with TG vs GT now

Same old same old. Actually, this first episode was worse than Top Gear in its dying days.

I wonder if they are going to use Mike Skinner throughout the season to one lap their test cars. If Amazon wanted an American, they could have considered Jeff Gordon. But then again, he wouldn't pull off the hick American attitude like Skinner.
