GA15 Ignition timing Specs

Postby Nicknacks » March 17th, 2017, 4:10 pm

I own a FB14 Nissan Sunny foreign used with a GA15 engine and my mechanic never checked the ignition timing when servicing . Can anyone tell me what are the correct method and specifications for the timing?

If original engine or same type still in car then you can check underside of hood/bonnet for the sticker that has BTDC/RPM. Should look something like this:

This is my engine bro, not a GA15!

the TPS stays in place, but the jack should be unplugged.

Start engine and warm it up until water temperature indicator points to the middle of gauge.
Ensure engine stays below 1,000 rpm.

Turn off engine and disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector.

Start engine.
Race engine (2,000 - 3,000 rpm) 2 or 3 times under no-load and then run engine at idle
speed.

Check ignition timing with a timing light.

Adjust ignition timing to the specified value by turning distributor after loosening bolts which secure distributor.
