SMH. I really wanted to open a business here. But I didn't. I'm afraid to be a success in Trinidad. I'll take my lil business ideas and do it in another country where I can succeed and live in peace!

Just now someone would jump up and say he was dealing in drugs or a criminal, when honest looking people are involved the have nots normally blame the victim for mental comfort and defend the criminals since they are merely products of society and couldn't get jobs because none was given to them.

Hope he is found safely.

Yet people were complaining that the focus on the crime situation held back the Bourdain episode from being the ultimate showcase of sweet TnT :? .

Alluh keep studying Bourdain and the Syrians..
In that very same episode the Muslimeen singer/poet whose grandmother cooked pork for Bourdain said of the criminal mentality in Trinidad -
"If I truly care for you, if I feel that you are part if the thing that I exist in, then I won't hurt you." and
"Is not just that I want this tablecloth, I want this tablecloth because you, you have had it for too long so I'm just gonna take it from you..."

Is there any history of kidnap victims being returned safely in this country, even after ransom paid?

Those high profile kidnappings in the 2002-2005 era, the victims were returned and generally unharmed i.e. Aking, Maharaj West Side Supermarket's nephew (Ishwar), Pennywise Cosmetics son etc.

Businessman snatched by kidnappers
Ransom call originated from Port-of-Spain

Image
A car belonging to businessman Gregory Laing was found by police this morning, outside his Circular Road business in San Fernando.

San Fernando businessman Gregory Laing was snatched by kidnappers this morning and a $250,000 ransom has been demanded for his safe return.

Laing, the owner of Puff n Stuff bakery located Circular Road, Vistabella was taken by two men who bundled him in a waiting vehicle as he went to open the business for employees shortly after 3 am.

The T&T Guardian understands that senior police officers have been called to a meeting to discuss the kidnapping.

Describing the investigation as sensitive, a senior officer said police had to be careful regarding the information they put out in the public at this time.

Police said they could not yet determine the make or colour of the vehicle.

Police said they had also received information that a ransom call originated from Port-of-Spain. The Guardian was told that Port-of-Spain Division officers are currently searching the area.

Investigators have impounded and are examining the car belonging to kidnapped San Fernando businessman Gregory Laing , who was snatched outside his bakery in the early hours on Thursday.

A ransom of $270,000 is being asked for Laing's return.

The family received the call at around 4 a.m. – an hour after Laing's black Mercedes Benz was discovered in the parking lot by an employee.

The employee found a ring of keys and a cell phone on the ground next to the vehicle.

Police were told that Laing was opening the bakery for employees when it is believed he was taken away by kidnappers.

The vehicle was towed by police officers and expected to be handed over to officers of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU).

Laing is the owner of Puff N Stuff Bakery at Circular Road, San Fernando.

The bakery was opened for business on Thursday morning.

Several police units have collaborated and are working on the case, the Express was told.

President of the San Fernando Business Association Daphne Bartlett said her thoughts and prayers were with the Laing family.

“It is sad that someone gets up that early in the morning to perform his duties and you are attacked. It is not a good message to send to the young people who are trying to be entrepreneurs and going out there to start their own business and achieve something”, said Bartlett.
