Hilux has a known problems with the spindle bending towards the top. Close to the upper balljoint. Check and make sure the alignment was properly done and all in the green. If it's off the Camber would be a tad bit off and cause pulling. Often the left side it happens to due to the edge of the road

My bro using the racechip brand chip and pedal controller and it works great . Faster take off than a 1kd but it just doesn't have the throat like a 1kd. Which I don't think you can substitute for. Lol

Thanks for the feedback, Will do some more research on it. Did he have any smoke issues?

Anyone else have any experience with these chips (did it work?, brand? , any issues?)?

Some good news and some bad news...

Good news.
I have almost finished the install of my new double Din head unit... Was easier than I thought to take the dashboard apart. Still have some wiring to tidy up.

Bad news.
I have a burnt out front left speaker... Which necessitates a replacement/upgrade.
Also it has come to my attention that the Toyota dealership might be replacing the head units on some models with cheaper replacements before being delivered to the customer. I can find no Toyota deck online matching my own so far. I also found an antenna adapter installed on my "factory" head unit... Which shouldn't be required if it came from the factory. Make of it what you will but I have a few choice questions if I ever go back into the dealership.

Guys. Anyone ever experienced the problem in a 2012 hilux or later, whereby the lights on the a.c. controls go out? I pulled out the finisher and looked behind but I can't seem to physically see the bulbs. Helllpppp

Never had that problem... But I will keep an eye out for it now that you mentioned it.

So I finally got a chance to replace my door speakers. I modified the OEM speakers to form adapters for the replacement coaxials. Thank you to everyone that assisted.

It's nothing fancy
Pioneer x731bt
Focal R165c (I believe these are a touch to big for the adapter i made but they fit)

No extra holes punched into the door sheet metal

Will replace the back door set when they call it quits. Still looking at options for more Bass but only when I'm ready

Guy showed me how to change the bulbs so I'll do that soon. It carries 2 of the wedge bulbs which are $156 a pair in the firm.possibly cheaper on ebay.

Hi everyone, i am fairly new to the hilux family. I recently bought a 4x2 hilux with the 2kd non intercooled engine, wanted to know a couple things.

1- where can i get disc pads for the hilux (its the five hole rims model)
2- are there any upgrades for the brakes (bigger rotors and calipers)
3- want to increase power in the 2kd. ( race chips, exhaust, intake etc. Need direction)
4-what type of oil does the diff and gear box useon the 4x2 models??

Whatever help i can get i will be very great, thanks in advance!!
P.s. am from south so if the disc pads can be from south that will be nice, lol.

Don't know where has brake pads for that model.

Manual recommends gl5 oil for both did and gearbox 75w90 or 80w90

Any other info for this model 2009 2.5turbo 4x2. What oil type to use? preferred brand of oil? where to get the timing belt kits? what are some common problems? thanks.
I did not read through the thread...

Could be suspension squeaking if not brakes

When you said the noise wasn't coming from the pads...I thought that they weren't coming from your brakes at all... Did you have any work done on the van recently... In my experience... When I push my van that is when my drum brakes start making noise

I had a squeaky noise problem turned out to be the eye rubber at the bottom of the front shocks .alignment place did not pick it up . I went under the shocks and saw the damaged rubber with my own eyes

My squeaky noise was the rear brake shoe, needed replacing. Fairly easy job. Strange, happens when you give it a good run. The brake is self adjusting, so the adjuster will be adjusting the shoe pretty low to the metal. Hardest part is to release the shoe from the brake drum, the star wheel on the adjuster was difficult to find, you have to use two hands with two screw drivers. One to push the adjuster plate away from the star wheel and the other to turn the adjuster to release the shoe tension.

I didn't have that trouble with my adjuster... One screw driver... The plate only allows rotation in one direction... Can be done with the hubs on the vehicle... Small rubber plug on the back
