My Lancer CS2A is running 110,000 km and engine is 4g15.
Now it seems, fuel consumption has increased with little engine vibration, and its smells unburned fuel from exhaust.
Do I need to replace MAP & Oxygen Sensor?
Thanks in advance.

Clean airflow, check/change spark plugs and air filter. But oxygen sensor is a culprit too

The output voltage range is the confirmation if it is on its way out before the throwing of the check engine light.

Need a lil advise from y'all fellas here. I have a 2005 CS3A 4G18 lancer that hsa been operating really bad when the A/C is on. when i idling in drive that shaking and making this kinda thunderous noise whenever the compressor switch, which is like every 10-15 seconds or so and the RPMs drop erratically. it usually idles at aroung 850-900 RPM but when the shate happening it just dropping to 600-700 and back up again.
Man that does be so bad i have to always put it in neutral when i idling in traffic. if i turn off the A/C all is well. I checked with one of my trusted mechanics who told me my idle control is off and just need to be readjusted but to me that not right. and since it blowing cold i doubt my compressor or condenser faulty. So what y'all think it could be? and thanks in advance.

Iacv needs changing... There is nothing to adjust on the iacv.. What u can do as a temporary fix, on the throttle body, there is an 8mm nut under the X cable. You can adjust that Lil bolt to suit.. The downside to it, the idle wud be high when on park or neutral

Thanks for the quick response. I will let my mechanic know and see if he can make this happen. you wouldn't happen to know the part number for the IACV by any chance? and just double checking that changinf this one thing go make all the difference?!?!?!? boy vehicles can really geh on like an ole granny sometimes yes.

You can try the scrap and clean iacv just to see if that can alleviate your issue.

fwape this has been covered many times before, DO NOT adjust the idle screw especially when you have a mechanic that think is a carborated engine he dealing with, These screws are sensitive to the slightest of increments and should only be done with OBD scanner attached while monitoring the adjustments made.

Dave is correct, it can be cleaned
See link here to clean from idlemind
http://www.trinituner.com/v4/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=458785

If this does not work, then replace. If you do a search on this forum you ll come up with the part number, cost of new unit is usually 400 up

Mine was adjusted when my iacv went bad and I adjusted it back when I installed the new one, the car works just as it did before the iacv went bad

Some alignment shops have them, when you go to align. Quick Service on Wrightson Road supplied and installed on my CS.

Some strange ish happening to my CS3, whenever I hold the power window switch my headlights will dim and also my temperature gauge will go up. But when I let go the switch everything would be back to normal, could it be the battery or the alternator going?

^^car sounding like it have blight, tired tell men stop bulling in they car.

This sounds like a electrical problem, very strange that temperature gauge goes up as this is unrelated to anything you doing.

To check battery use a voltmeter, should be below 12volts when not in use and about 14volts when the car is started and the alternator is charging.

Or you could disconnect battery pole when car is on and see if the car cuts off, this is how they test alternator (old school). May not be able to determine if its on its way out.

had similar issues. eventually wouldn't always want to start, until battery died and was replaced.
not happening with new battery, and alternator checked out fine during Lange's tests.

I had the same issue, but solved. Here is my advice.

1) Take out the IAC valve when cleaning throttle body, don't spray anything on the IAC valve!! Clean the air path where IAC valve sits as well.
2) Clean the MAP sensor, this is very easy and more effective than just cleaning the TB itself (and I think it is more effective too).
3) Clean EGR valve. Since IAC valve is removed, EGR is not difficult to remove for cleaning.

Do above 3 things well and I'm sure you can see the different.

To check if IAC working properly, connect the cable back to IAC valve and ask someone to hold it.
The IAC valve will move when you turn the key to ON. If it moves smoothly with quick response, most likely it is still good.

tropi_flakes wrote:Good night people first time cs3 owner here but i think i bought an egg. I purchased one about a week ago for the wife to run around with ( daycare and work same area ) so i know its not gonna get any kind of abuse. The last car she had it 3 years and didn't even make a good 18000k on it. Anyways to sum it up the car works fine when the place is cool or open road, no overheating or anything but as soon as the place is really hot or in traffic and you stop and leave it in drive the car start to idle very very heavy, slap it in neutral and the idle is fine ( car dead silent) soon as you start to roll again and stop same thing heavy idle ( the temp gauge stays on half tho) so no over heating. Both fans are also work very good in the car evrything is fine unless in traffic or better yet if the car is on for more than 2 hours.
Also had one time i felt like there was delay in gearing down when i had to apply brakes suddenly, car came to a complete stop but you still felt the tranny gearing down to first

Engine in the car is the 1.8
Vehicle is a pce glx ( Singapore )

Is the fan always on? Similar things happened to me and it ends up Relay Radiator Cooling Fan Control problem.
Do a search on this part #1355A124 , it uses in Mazda as well. No more high RPM after I change it.

Newbie here to this site. my problem is best described as copied here-under by Groundcontrol » July 20th, 2014. Has anyone found a solution.

Thanks in advance.

{Okay guys.i have a Local 2004 Mitsubishi lancer CS3.
The car has a standard 4g18 engine with a standard CVT Tranny.
My cars lacks power.Extreme loss of power.
I feel the power there but its like something is holding the car back.
When climbing inclines the cars runs out of power and sometimes won't make it up depending on the incline. And thats with a wide open throttle(pedal to the metal)
In reverse the cars barely moves.
Also if i cold start and i drive it i get this sorta jig saw back and forth feeling from the car until it warms up a bit.
The engine sounds noticably heaver when idling also.
Over the past 4 months i've been trying to tackle this issue but still the problems exists.
First off. There's no check engine light on.The car drives fine when say i'm doing 60 to 80 on the speedo but say if i decide to press for acceleration the car revs out and goes nowhere. The speed barely increases. The engine would rev but no acceleration.
Things i have tried over the past 4 months to diagnose problem include:
Take car the for engine error code scan.
Change transmission oil
Change engine oil
Change air filter
Change plugs
Change valve cover seal rubbers and gaskets.
Clean injectors
Clean throttle body
Change CAM sensor
Change Crank sensor
Change MAF sensor
Clean IAC sensor
Clean TPS sensor
Clean fuel pump filter
Check fuel pressure
Test MAF,IAC,TPS,O2 sensors manually with voltmeter
Manually inspect exhaust for clogg
Remove catalyc converter
Check engine timing.

Everything that was checked or changed or tested is and works within their intended range.No fault codes or faulty sensors.}

I replaced my own with a plastic one a couple years ago, bought it by Marud on Union Road Marabella.
Wasn't that expensive from what i remember.
