they usually always ask that as you have to declare if its more than $5000 USD

now they are more insistent on it though as a lot of people who need USD are going abroad for it and flying it in

take for example you have 50k USD or 100k usd (even much smaller amounts)in a US account in Trinidad, and you want to cash it out locally, they forcing you to cash out in TT, they not letting you withdraw USD from your USD account (i don't even understand that....daz real flabbergastery....but anyway)

so what plenty business people are doing are wiring the money to US accounts abroad and flying up to withdraw it

So why you guys dont use a credit card or just increase the limit on your credit card . this way you get more us spending money .

there are limits on how much USD you can spend on your credit cards now(besides your usual monthly limit, they limiting THAT amount) as well as extra fees in certain banks if spending USD

they also aren't increasing the limit easily.

So i have money back home, but a sufferer here. My fellow TT students abroad probably experiencing the same thing.

withdraw Canadian abroad whenever needed using your ATM card
I don't think they are limiting cash withdrawals besides the usually $300 or $500 per day

In May I only got US$200/day from a BoA ATM.

Stupid trini logic. When something is desperately needed, restrict the supply even more. If I was government I would have increased the limit that could be brought in by travellers etc. Then I also may have looked into making trinidad some sort of offshore banking hub. That would have given us some necessary breathing space and allow some equilibrium to be returned to the system. I realise alot of trinis are insecure about their position in life and this extends to politicians and upper society. I'm sure it's unnerving for them to witness what real wealth looks like. The sort of wealth that doesn't need a tax break or government contract to attain a "luxurious vehicle".

Probably the only country that seeks to restrict trade in 2017. Forkin laughable yes. Imagine the technological strides that the internet made allowing you to buy goods on amazon that is delivered straight to our doors but we can't due to things such as forex shortages. We jamming still?

There isnt a limit. You just have to declare and justify the amount you bringing. People who ship drugs abroad and get payment in us would be glad to fly it in in suitcases of cash.

One of my padnas come back with 60k us cash the other day from vegas and he had no issues after he declared it and showed them where it come from. But if he didnt declare it and they found it ...it could have been forfeited i believe

the Scotia amount limit can be increased to 400 USD daily. did that in April this year no issues.
the VTM limits now may be spread to all other banks

Fellas, is the limit on Republic VTM still $100 USD per day?

And I see they only mention SMS and Mobile banking, so what about in person banking(going to the physical bank) and doing the transaction?
Are they no longer doing that at the bank or if not is the limit the same 100USD?

Limit is 100 per day
Going into the the bank for US is hit and miss as they allocate a small amount daily and if the amount is reached before you get there then you cant get until the next day.

Forex allocation is being stifled by the Gov't.

It is illegally allocated .

Soon we are going back to the days of black market and exchange control .

You can withdraw cash at an ATM. But if it’s a T&T ATM then you will get TT$.
If you are in the US you can withdraw US$.

Remember though, the funds on the VTM card are in US$.
