Nope this boat was built for Gran Cacique of Venezuela in 2016 under the name Dona Mercedes and they couldn't pay.
Its been parked for a year thereabouts waiting for some new suckers. Why Cuba is anyone's guess.

It coming but it aint ready to go to work since things have to be installed in Cuba.
April kinda getting iffy.
This is a real mamaguy going on.
At least a big boy in Tobago is of the view that this saga is teaching Tobago peoples the virtue of exercising patience with dignity.
One thing for sure if this continues Tobago may end -up with a population of the most dignified sufferers in the Caribbean.

Stupid kants in the GORTT will milk this ferry for every single cent before it reaches Trinidad. Built in China, modified in Cuba? Those countries not known for transparency, or accountability. Again, another example of saying one thing and then declaring to the world that we're banana republic. Aren't ship and marine services one of our diversification thrust areas?

Money have to make somewhere

$2.35m more to be spent on ferry*

THE Galleons Passage passenger ferry will cost taxpayers an additional US$350,000 (TT$2.35 million) to retrofit before it is ready for the inter-island seabridge.

Despite this, Finance Minister Colm Imbert says Trinidad and Tobago has gotten value for money.

Imbert told the Sunday Express that even with the added cost of modifications to the vessel, the total cost is still less than two independent valuations of the vessel.

The ferry was purchased for US$17.4 million (about TT$117 million).

Galleons Passage has not yet left China - they seem to have some problem with the engines and/or the steering.

Check its speed and track at https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=9772888

At 5 knots (its average speed for the last few days) it will take 2 or 3 months to arrive in Trinidad.

2 or 3 months if it keeps working. Remember it's a Great Wall Wingle or JAC or a Foton ,something like that.

Port chairman quits, remains tight-lipped

Former Port Authority (Patt) chairman Allison Lewis is tight-lipped about her resignation from the Board of Commissioners yesterday. When contacted, Lewis said she had no comment to make, even before being asked a question.

During a tour of the Solomon Hochoy Highway Extension to Point Fortin yesterday, Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan said he had heard of Lewis' resignation but had not yet seen the letter. Sinanan said he plans to ask her to reconsider.

"Well, I have heard of the resignation. What I can say is that it is unfortunate if that happens, I will do whatever I can to try to convince Ms Lewis to rethink her position. However, if she doesn’t, I would like to thank her for her service. Ms Lewis has been a great asset to this country, not only as chairman of the Port but in her capacity as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. I have full respect for her, I think she has served this country well and I really do hope that she will continue to serve this country," Sinanan said.

Lewis, 63, a Public Service Medal of Merit (Gold) awardee, also served as a governor of the Heritage and Stabilisation Fund, director at the Central Bank, and now a director at Trinidad Cement Ltd.

It was rumoured that her resignation came after the Patt Board agreed that the contract for the Cabo Star not be renewed when it expires in a month's time. However, someone at the Ministry of Finance has insisted on a renewal.

A source close to Finance Minister Colm Imbert said yesterday that the Patt does not report to the Imbert neither does he have anything to do with Lewis' resignation.

In March 2017, the former Patt chairman Christine Sahadeo resigned from the Board, and this was followed by Cabinet's firing of the remaining commissioners, inclusive of the deputy chairman Michael Patterson, Radha Permanand, Glen Wilson, Ken Wright, Melissa Alexis James, and Ferdie Ferreira.

Back then, Ferreira told the T&T Guardian that board members were constructively dismissed by Cabinet one day after Sahadeo tendered her resignation. His claim was denied by Sinanan, who insisted yesterday that the board members resigned and “we accepted the resignations.”

Within days, the incumbent Board of Adrian Beharry, Brandon Primus, Suzette Baptiste, Dexter Jaggernauth, and Tommy Elias was appointed.

Seabridge ferries suspended

Kim Boodram Mar 12, 2018 Updated 8 hrs ago

WHILE the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT) readies for its third chairperson in a year, tipped to be retired Defence Force Colonel Lyle Alexander, passenger transport on the Trinidad and Tobago seabridge has all but collapsed.

PATT confirmed yesterday that it is currently without a passenger ferry as the T&T Express, which has mostly run alone since the dry docking of the T&T Spirit last June, has been temporarily suspended for the sake of passenger safety.

This current government is a joke. A simple thing like arranging a ferry to Tobago they cannot coordinate.
But since there is no accountability for screw ups big or small among Rowley and his bunch of misfits nobody will be held responsible, while the people and businesses in Tobago suffer.

A review of the published operating capability of the new vessel, which I will admit the majority of citizens were/are willing to work with (if only because of circumstances) has raised some real concerns for me NOW.
The issue which has become real bothersome is capability to operate with the new thresholds in sea conditions.
Easter bad seas have been a norm for decades with vessels just not able to sail and or berth.
Today however severe conditions seem to be the new normal, are we therefore going to get a new vessel which like the others in-hand going to have cancellations for the same reasons.
All information inclusive of the new vessels ability to 'sprint' to safety suggest the described concerns/reality are valid.

Pressure!

"FLIGHTS TO TOBAGO DELAYED - NO ACCOMMODATION BUT PASSENGERS CAN GET A FREE MEAL AT KFC"

They just announced that flights to Tobago from Trinidad were delayed until 7:30 pm.

However, passengers became outraged when they were informed that there will be no flights until 5:45am.

No accommodation however passengers will receive a free meal- KFC.

The Tobago Sea Bridge debacle is too eventful for it to be mere incompetence. It seems to be a push towards a direction. It seems intentional.
