Logic is less pace on the ball means less chance of batsman getting away with mis hit or miss timed stroke/shot
Not necessarily, Gayle, Russell, Bravo and a couple other international players hit them far and long, with and without pace on de ball.......

The Indian pkayers seem to love the no pace on the ball also , really good slow and spin ball players they are.

Logical doesn't imply effectiveness.

That being said, when it's ur day nothing will stop you! It was Narines, similar to Braithwaites day at the t20 final...

That was indeed his day!! Got a pacer to the brain, dropped a milli times.

Man was on fire, gone to hospital, come back and gave it his all to finish them off, we ended up loosing by 1 run i think.... WI cricket was my life yea.

De man really is the universe boss yes......his composure today......on point. Even the commentators today said his focus was spot on. He set his mind for a big one and didn't give the bowlers a chance at his wicket at all.

Yup, there was a definite difference in his approach today, he was even running quick singles and twos.
Man bat tru the entire innings!

Gayle at 39 still one of the best in the T20 game.
And to think he was a 3rd round pick and didn't start the first few games for KXIP.
He probably not going to be dropped for the remainder of the tournament.

Yep RCB prob regretting that decision to not retain Gayle since they're lingering at the bottom of the table after 4 games.
Still early days yet tho...

Fatman better watch heself...

Talking points: What is Pollard's role in the Mumbai XI?
Apr 24, 2018

Sidharth Monga

Pollard's opportunity to justify his place

Due to its short duration, T20s often allow teams to play at least one player who is not there for consistent, blue-collar performances. Usually four batsmen, two allrounders and four bowlers do the job. This 11th player can be a batting fail-safe, a low-percentage hitter, a floating bowler or a tactical pick for a high-profile match-up, such as Bipul Sharma against AB de Villiers.

The unique thing about Mumbai Indians has been that their surplus player has been the same guy for many years. And he takes an overseas player's slot to boot. Kieron Pollard has bowled 7.5 IPL overs since May 24, 2015. It is safe to assume that he plays as a specialist batsman and a fielder. Yet he is used by Mumbai sparingly. No specialist batsman, let alone an overseas one, in this IPL has had less to do than him in this IPL. Until the Sunrisers game, at an average, there have only been 31.2 balls left in the innings when Pollard he has come out to bat this season; even Ravindra Jadeja has been coming in with more to do.

Yet, it is impact that Pollard is paid the big bucks for. When he scores a fifty, his side wins three out of four games. The rate for Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, to put it in perspective, is 68% and 62%. Last year he came in at 7 for 4 and smacked a 47-ball 70 to win a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. That was the kind of impact Mumbai needed from him when he came out to bat at 61 for 4 in a tricky chase. These are the nights they pay Pollard for. This time, though, he made a mental error and guided Rashid straight to slip. Will it make Mumbai question their persistence with Pollard? Not if he can win a couple of games off his own bat.

Windies slump to historic low in Test rankings

LONDON—West Indies have slumped to ninth in the latest International Cricket Council Test rankings, a historic low for the Caribbean side in the game’s longest format.

In the rankings released by the ICC on Tuesday, the Windies lost five ratings points to tumble to 67 and are now only above minnows Zimbabwe who sit on two points, having played just 14 Tests inside the last five years.

Significantly, West Indies are also now eight points behind Bangladesh who picked up four points to move to 75 and take over eighth spot in the rankings.

The bad news for the Windies come on the heels of a wretched tour of New Zealand last December when they suffered a 2-0 whitewash...
