SINKHOLE DEVELOPS ALONG HIGHWAY

Commuters along the SOUTHBOUND Lane of the Uriah Buttler Highway are asked to be aware of a Sinkhole that developed a Few Moments ago.

Traffic is being diverted to the Unicomer (COURTS) Access road that runs parralel to the highway.

Please be advised.

Only 2 or 3 contractors in Trinidad can do this job for about $15-20 M

Easy 3 day contract.

All are UNC financiers.

They say the one by sealots np, concrete was poured to fill it up
So,I guess it is no longer a culvert and water drainage in area is now lessened

Yup

The infrastructure is NOT being maintained .

Its not a matter of maintain.
You designing a channel it must have a cross sectional area to handle the volume and a slope to allow for a certain flow (cant remember off the top of my head but iirc 2ft/s). If it is expected to have a low load you use a V type bottom so it can accommodate low loads properly.
Think abiut it. You have a big roof and want the runoff to go in the drain. You using same said drain for domestic wastewater.
If the channel is 1.5ft wide and 1.5ft high it will mostly have that domestic drain water stagnant as it will never load and rarely run proper.
With a V base it can accomodate minimal flow and still handle both storm flow and domestic wastewater flow.

Not true. They replaced the culvert.
