CAL needs to be closed down since they lost close to 1 billion in the last 5 years. It really does not serve any purpose except for the Tobago airbridge. Their planes are older, flights cost more and customer experience is not significantly better than any other airline. Can't see how a small airline like CAL can survive anymore without a fuel subsidy. Garvin Madera trying a turnaround but selling tamarind balls on flights not going to take them to profitability. They also have a huge wage bill for pilots and management staff.pugboy wrote:this is similar to bwia reboot but on a bigger scale
bwia also had a nice pension fund, many senior employees got a nice package and
many were rehired
wasa is just a plain inefficient company with plenty bobol hiring of "contractors" ie men with a backhoe and truck

1. equivalent in terms of market value
2. required fractions that could be produced from 20,000 barrels of oil
3. 25,000 barrels of required fractions.
Maybe the sale of the 40,000 BOPD will generate enough forex to purchase the 25,000 barrels of fractions. This means petrotrin will not be a net user of forex.
Most important is how much will we be paying for fuel in the next few weeks because the entire country may now have to face an increase in cost of living while a few were allowed to "live it up" at our expense..... yet they come on the forums and try to justify their unnecessary compensations and try to make us believe that they are doing us a service by putting their lives on the line so that we can get fuel for our vehicles.
And no likelihood that the refinery would be sold...... that maybe a correct statement at the time it was made but with Guyana expecting big oil to flow by 2020 of which 30% will belong to Guyana to refine wherever they wish..... I'm sure things will change in the next two years...... maybe in the euphoria of the election some 1% might "get through".
Waittt for it nah joshie23...dey eh seeing it yet..gastly369 wrote:Let the public keke....dey eh know the trickle effect that would take place yet nahpjfred wrote:Actually these are accurate figures, when the 1% owns the refinery the price of fuel will be 4 times what you pay now. Similar to all other products. Reason being thats the foreign market price. God bless Rowley and his wisdom. Sabgas forever! Hail the Almighty Syrians!
CAL started off good but again was mis-managed by the last government with the ATR purchase. Bottom line here is this country has a poor record of running businesses that need to be competitive globally. It is better for the state to get out of them, let the private sector run it and stick to collecting taxes.hydroep wrote:CAL is a loss making enterprise just like BWIA because it too suffered from poor management decisions: purchase of the ATRs and acquisition of Air Jamaica to name a couple.
It's true, they can't close it down. How else will the politicans and their families fly for free?...
