this is similar to bwia reboot but on a bigger scale
bwia also had a nice pension fund, many senior employees got a nice package and
many were rehired

wasa is just a plain inefficient company with plenty bobol hiring of "contractors" ie men with a backhoe and truck

Fully expect some of the better assets to be sold off to waiting investors. I always never understand that statement of life in the line for a company. I myself work at a established downstream company and I'm pretty sure I do way more work than petrotrin employees for less renumeration.

CAL needs to be closed down since they lost close to 1 billion in the last 5 years. It really does not serve any purpose except for the Tobago airbridge. Their planes are older, flights cost more and customer experience is not significantly better than any other airline. Can't see how a small airline like CAL can survive anymore without a fuel subsidy. Garvin Madera trying a turnaround but selling tamarind balls on flights not going to take them to profitability. They also have a huge wage bill for pilots and management staff.

You can't close down CAL because then who the hell gonna service necessary but unprofitable routes. Also without CAL expect other airlines to buss price on us because of less competition.

CAL though, like WASA, TSTT, T&TEC is overstaffed with entitled overpaid employees. Cut half the staff and these entities will be profitable.

However, iirc, CAL has an excellent accident rating so they must be doing something right!

CAL is a loss making enterprise just like BWIA because it too suffered from poor management decisions: purchase of the ATRs and acquisition of Air Jamaica to name a couple.

It's true, they can't close it down. How else will the politicans and their families fly for free?...:|

1. equivalent in terms of market value
2. required fractions that could be produced from 20,000 barrels of oil
3. 25,000 barrels of required fractions.
Maybe the sale of the 40,000 BOPD will generate enough forex to purchase the 25,000 barrels of fractions. This means petrotrin will not be a net user of forex.

Most important is how much will we be paying for fuel in the next few weeks because the entire country may now have to face an increase in cost of living while a few were allowed to "live it up" at our expense..... yet they come on the forums and try to justify their unnecessary compensations and try to make us believe that they are doing us a service by putting their lives on the line so that we can get fuel for our vehicles.

And no likelihood that the refinery would be sold...... that maybe a correct statement at the time it was made but with Guyana expecting big oil to flow by 2020 of which 30% will belong to Guyana to refine wherever they wish..... I'm sure things will change in the next two years...... maybe in the euphoria of the election some 1% might "get through".

I swear, that was my reaction when I came to the part in bold. So, we essentially advocate and support closing down the Refinery because 'Dem boys overpaid and dey laazzyy! Sell the thing. It's what's best for the country'. But then we're concerned about the ripple effect thereafter, the most obvious ones being potential higher fuel prices and thus higher living costs. Why worry? Mr. Espinet, Mr. Khan and by extension, Dr. Rowley have yuh back. They know what's best for the country, so they won't let fuel prices go anywhere. Great is the PNM.

The knock on effects...

Unemployment, stagnation of economy due to reduced consumer spending. Reduced spending means businesses suffer even more. So more layoffs.

CAL started off good but again was mis-managed by the last government with the ATR purchase. Bottom line here is this country has a poor record of running businesses that need to be competitive globally. It is better for the state to get out of them, let the private sector run it and stick to collecting taxes.

I find it hard to believe that many who worked there didn't see this coming and prepare for it. Did they upgrade their skills over the years?, did they benchmark their selves with others in similar types companies to determine gaps? Unfortunately it's the ones that don't add value would be the ones kept on.

or

NIQUAN ENERGY TRINIDAD
Company #1519589
ELEVEN ALBION CORNER DERE AND ALBION STREETS PORT OF SPAIN
Incorporated on: 2012-07-17
Name Suffix: LIMITED
Status: ACTIVE

Google Maps indicate that the Washington DC address is a building that is leased/rented out by a real estate company called:

SUMMIT Commercial Real Estate
1990 M Street, NW
2nd Floor
Washington DC, 20036

202-289-5400
www.summitcre.com
info@summitcre.com

A trip to Summit's website under the "our clients and customers" tab:
http://www.summitcre.com/our-clients-customers/

Does not reveal NiQuan Energy LLC as a tenant.

A visual check of the building on Google Maps does not reveal any signage owned by NiQuan Energy LLC.

Interestingly enough, Ancil Roget made reference to this company and amongst other things where basically he was trying to say that something is up where future control/ownership of Petrotrin's E&P unit. Furthermore, the dude who made the video which circulated on social media where he brought information to us whilst driving his vehicle made references to this company.

Now this post is not a protest about the E&P shutdown and wider Petrotrin restructure as I support the government's decision on this one, however, I just want to know (if possible), who are the true owners of NiQuan Energy Trinidad Limited and what is their projected growth forecasts like or at least what is their short-to-medium term strategic plan? The typical web-search information obtained on NiQuan thus far reveals something very questionable.

Nope...They have always been subsidized....Just imagine with subsidised fuel prices they still can't turn a profit. Insanity.
