Hey guys.
Where local sells fan controllers or adapters to PSU? Need at least one extra fan connection here for now.

Edit: got through with the last one Toxic had in stock.

Recently put together a similar system.
Same CPU
8gb crucial DDR4
Mushkin source 2 sata SSD
ASRock b450m-hdv

Works well for now.

Nice loop, really been liking the look of matte black tubes so might go that route instead of hard tubing whenever I redo my loop.

Running everything in series like that is good temps?
Always thought the cpu and gpu would effectively heat each other up.

good question...i have no idea. lol

i'm open to suggestions

i got a great deal on some 4TB WD Blue hard drives when I was in Toronto last week...paid around $200 TT for one so I bought 10  PCV Online had a clearance sale when I was there.

i'll put 1 in the wall PC and 8 in the NAS (RAID 1)....i'll keep 1 as a spare.

I picked up another Raspberry Pi 4 as well so I'll use that for the NAS...it's got GB Ethernet which is more than enough for now.

i'm thinking about building a small box but i want the drives to be cooled as well....they will be constantly in use cuz of video storage from my security cams...i might just mount all of them to 2 floor boards and bolt it to the wall along with some cheap HDD coolers from Amazon....not sure

I picked these 2.5 to 3.5 case mounts so attaching them to a flat surface is easy:

IMG_20190930_022338.jpg

got them for around $20 TT each

Before it was

Res > pump > GPU > rad 1 > CPU > rad 2

The config now shows the same temps

But initially I had both rads pulling air in and the 140 fan pushing air out.

Now I have the front pulling in, the top pushing out with no exhaust fan

This config had the temps higher due to the case design (evolv atx)

As soon as I placed the exhaust fan back, temps went to normal

2 hrs on valley bench mark overclocked GPU 55 degrees

On cinebench overclocked cpu reaches 88 degrees

Still need to run intel burn test

Find 88° real high for a watercooled chip, sound like the gpu getting all the cooling.

Had the same config but I took out the 240 rad to get in some more airflow, the 360 alone worked great for both cpu/gpu.

That’s on load, during gaming and work load barley hitting 45

Plus it over clocked to 4.8 on all cores

Breaking news..
Intel starts the price war!. They can`t compete with the AMD which still have the new threadripper on the way.

I honestly thought AMD started it with the release of the first gen ryzen. Intel seems to finally be responding because AMD's IPC has now surpassed them

So i made some progress today:

Cut out holes for wires, fans etc and slapped on some red:

1.jpg

2.jpg

I ketch my ass to make those holes neat with the jigsaw and dremel cuz the ply + floorboard rel thick:

3.jpg

So i ended up using Gorilla tape and Xacto knives to kinda block it off (i'll cut a slit in the tape to pass the wires). I need to find a better solution (suggestions are welcomed)....i attempted to use wood filler but it started to look messy :|

4.jpg

Didnt get long enough PCB standoffs so I had to double up:

5.jpg

drilled the holes the height of a single standoff and screwed / super glued the bastards to the board.

6.jpg

Question for you guys.....the motherboard will be attached to those standoffs which are fixed to the wood background....do you think I should run a separate ground wire for the board? Or is the grounding from the PS enough?

I actually never gave this any thought until reading this... Not exactly sure if it is necessary. Motherboards appear to have very small contacts around the mounting screw area... At the same time some cases have painted internal surfaces which insulate. We don't generally have the problem of static, unless your AC dries the air... It's a toss up.

i'll probably run a small ground wire from one of the standoffs to one of the metal brackets somewhere outside the case....just to be safe.

...now have to figure out how the hell to mount the PSU and GPU

Build Update - Some good progress

2 / 10 fans not working so I have to replace them....installed 8.

Please ignore the temporary fire hazard in the background

I think the gold makes it look a bit tacky / scrappy  ....might rip it off and use black instead with a pattern. the purpose is to hide my scrappy cutting and cover the fan wires.

1.jpg

2.jpg

3.jpg

Cheap 10 x fan controller from Amazon...PWM functionality (9 fans copy the action of fan 1)

4.jpg

added my cheap LED strip but geez it's way too bright....gonna need to add an on / off switch for sure

IMG_20191005_181151.jpg

Power Supply Brackets

IMG_20191005_231134.jpg

The CPU coller actually mounted better than I thought...gonna have to cover up those metal brackets somehow...

I would just take back my money yes. I had 2 and both pumps fail less than a year

Since that custom loop

aio's are a set of nonsense lol a custom loop is only scary the first time you do it. you can do it pretty cheap with chinese pumps (they work just fine).
