Look in the grove of the tire and you would see the indicators are the same color as the contact patch.

look in the deep groove between the main treads
looks like little strip of rubber between the treads horizontally

you better check your tires

That tire is damning evidence of the BMW owner's attitude and state of mind on the roads toward other drivers. Anyone can see it's almost bald on treading, and that it's uneven wear. A tire shop would never NOT balance a new tire or rotate the tires at a maintenance check, so I would have to assume it's probably running used tires installed by the owner. :|

Anyone {now} can see that the Tyre is almost bald because the fender has been moved out of the way. It's not always easy to see if a tyre is cutting badly especially if it's on the inner side... You really have to look for it and not everyone is into cars/servicing etc.

The Hyundai appears to have snow tyres... But difficult to tell from the picture.

How hard is it to lock over the wheels and inspect the front and bend down to inspect the back tires....If the person is not motor savy they should at least know when to get a car serviced, if not they should not be allowed to operate a vehicle. There are some basic things everyone should know about.
