Expedited Passport Renewal

Does anyone have a link with someone in high rank at any of the passport offices in Trinidad?

I need to get my passport renewed ASAP because the company I'm working for is going to purchase a piece of equipment in the UK before it sells so I need to travel there and view it personally before we make the payment. In most cases the equipment looks good in pics but in person it's a different story.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Take a letter from your company stating the urgency of your need to travel.
There is a fee for an expedited passport so you really don't need to "know anybody".
Take your documents to the "Officer in charge / Supervisor" and state your case.

Last I heard it was $1000 for expedited. Not sure if that changed.

How soon you need the passport though? I renewed last month and it took 1 week to get it the regular way.

Renewed mine at the Sangre Grande office in February and got it back in 9 days time. Wouldn't recommend you pay extra for expedited unless it ABSOLUTELY necessary.

No need for any "extra" payments.... just approach the immigration officer produce the letter/itinerary from your company and thats it, from experience .. takes one week. Just a recommendation apply for the business passport (more pages than regular if you travel frequently).

I believe that the extensions were phased out with the introduction of the machine-readable passport.

The fee/payment for an expedited passport is higher than the one paid normally. You must pay extra to get it.

if you already had a machine readable passport that has expired, it means that all your info is already in the system and the renewal process is very simple.

i renewed my daughter's passport in december last. We went to the POS office on a monday at about 10 am. We waited about 45mins to see an officer and we were out of there in about an hr. the new passport was ready for collection on thursday of that same week.

no extra fee and no pull string ting.

Go to Fredrick street with a copy of your itenarary travel documents ask for mr Baird 3rd floor and hecan renew it the same or next day $250 for renewal and $300 expedited I got mines in two hours


I went to the airport with a confirmed ticket and they told me I can't travel because my passport was expiring in two months and the country I was going to the policy was 6 months so I had to get it renewed

not to say anything wrong but if you know your passport or any other important id is expired i make sure it's in order , no keep back.

Chaguanas last week. I merely requested it. HOWEVER, as is the case many times in our beloved Republic, you might meet an officer who may go a different route. Make sure your ears are showing though

Nice to hear the regular system is working especially as it normally gets hectic coming up to July/August vacation time. My friend actually came home to renew hers, and paid for it to be expedited however they told her that because some customs person stamped her passport badly the ink ran on the bio data page (either that page or the one with her visa or something) so basically her passport is invalid or something like that and she still here waiting to get it back.

Exactly. I took the 3 month route and when I collected it, the date issued was 15 days from the date I renewed.

Passport renewal in the US is US$110 and expedite is an extra US$60 so the TT fees aren't that far out of line with other countries, imo.

Expedite is charged if you lose your passport while traveling out of the country and need it to continue traveling.

It never happened to me but I know people were it did happen.

Keep "Immigration employee racket" to a minimum.

Immigration doing racket years now.

Some charge Chinese - $2,000 for Trini born baby passport.

And first Trini born baby passport is FREE !

THis is one thing we cannot blame the imps for . this fee was there long before . it the same fee for passport with the 40 pages instead of 32. And realy imps not creative , he not that smart to think of that.

You do not need any "special" immigration officer .
Go early in POS and explain to any immigration officer .

Maybe take your ticket or letter from your company etc.

Did you ask for expedited ? I think $550.
