TTPBA Power Boat Regatta #2 2023

The second round of the 2023 Trinidad & Tobago Powerboat Association championship took place on Sunday with Thirteen boats competing in Seven classes. Four of these teams and their race crafts made the journey over from Tobago. The race format for the day was that of two sprints and two circuits.

Competitors & spectators were greeted with blazing sun and choppy conditions that saw them airborne on the course just off of the Trinidad Yacht Club.

Mr Solo Too, who was making a much-anticipated return to racing and Iron Man were the lone entrants in the 130mph and 120 mph classes respectively. These two however put on some exciting racing against each other in the top classes.

In the 80mph class Blue Ice, who was also in the class by himself on the day, grabbed some valuable points in the championship. Extreme Measures took home top honours in the 70pmh class, with Ratchet coming in second.

Trident was the day’s winner amongst the 60mph competitors as the usually consistent Timeless had issues on the day and did not complete all races. The ‘Air Tobago’ class saw the high-flying sister isle boats in the 50pmh once again providing some excitement all around!  Mini Me took home the win, with Thanos & Ghost Operation coming in second and third.

In the Spec Class ‘Arrow’ continues to lead the way with another dominating display of wins. Kraken came in second and Pandemic third.

The 3rd round of the championship takes place on May 7th and we can expect more entries and more exciting powerboat racing!
