Alton, VA—Daniel Ramoutarsingh and JR Motorsports, in the #18 Trinrico Steel & Wire Products Jaguar XKR, have clinched position 7 on the 27 car field starting grid, with a lap time of 1:53.479, in Round 3 of the 2011 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series event from VIRginia International Raceway.

Daniel Ramoutarsingh

Daniel, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, piloted the JR Motorsports #18 Jaguar, around the 3.27 mile, 17 turn track in the 3 short qualifying laps before the session was ended early. The track was plagued with debris from the race just prior to Trans Am qualifying, as well as inclement weather all day.  “We were only able to get 3 laps into the session before the #6 car of RJ Lopez ended up in the tire wall in turn 14, red flagging the qualifying run and ending the session.” says Ramoutarsingh.  “I feel there was still a lot left in the car, but we weren’t able to tap into that in 3 short laps. The weather prior to qualifying was rainy and left the course very dirty, making it difficult to get up to speed quickly.  I knew that on the red flagged lap, the car would have been closer to its potential.  We feel good about the upcoming race, and are moving forward with confidence.  It is simply an honor to be here supporting the Trans-Am Series!”

“JR Motorsports has put together a quality team of people, with many years of valuable experience. I am confident in the capabilities of the car they have given me, and look forward to tomorrow’s race. I couldn’t be more proud of the crew, and really want to run well for them, as well as Trinrico, and for all the good people that support us and have made themselves so valuable to our effort as we enter our second race as a team!”

Race activities begin Sunday, May 15 at 1:30 pm.  The event will be 100 miles, or 31 laps.  Check out the Trans-Am Live Pitboard http://www.trans-amracing.com/transamlive for the timing & scoring data as well as session notes from the official series Twitter feed.
