Drag Racers Prepare for 2020 Championship at TTASA Test and Tune

Just one week after the popular Street Car Shootout series, Drag Racers returned to the Wallerfield International Raceway for the first Test and Tune Drag Racing event ahead of competition. Over 50 competitors came out to the Raceway in their fully-prepped drag cars to shakedown, in time for the first round of the 2020 Drag Racing Championship.

Back to back runs kept the crowds entertained, until an oil-spill on one lane forced the Officials to close the lane. However, timing was still available on the other lane, providing many drivers with the opportunity to run new personal bests. Rotary-rail driver Dale Mayers, was not only able to better his personal record, but also better his record for the fastest rotary powered car in the English speaking Caribbean. Just a year ago Mayers set the record with a time of 7.9s, and was now able to better it with a 7.515s. Other Personal Best times include Rohan Deocharan with a 8.8 in his Nissan S13, 8.4s for Bhola Lalee  in his Mazda RX-7 and many more.

The Trinidad and Tobago Automobile Sport Association (TTASA) would like to thank all sponsors, drivers and spectators for making this event. Special thanks to Jeremy Peters and Tyrone Noel of T-Spec Motorsport and Grenada Motorsport Club (GMC)  for the assistance with their timing system, while TTASA awaits a new system- expected before the first round of Competition.

Thanks to all our sponsors Mobil 1, Motul, VP Racing Fuels, Garage Fresh, InterChem, TriniTuner.com, IRP Fire and Safety, Trinidad and Tobago Security Services, SafeTec, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and HTC.
