So it all started with a phone call with an invite about an early morning drive to Maracas Bay with a bunch of sports cars, which sounded good to me. The meeting point was at the pillars at the foot of the Maracas hill climb, where we assembled and waited for the vehicles. In the lineup were three Toyota 86’s, two Mini Coopers, a Honda S2000, two Evos and a Starlet and a 4×4 Hilux.
Everyone more or less arrived at around 7:45am where we gathered and to our surprise there were a lot of people and vehicles heading into Maracas by the pillars. Here we thought we were going to be early and enjoy a scenic drive. With all of us here, we then pulled off on our journey. Naturally it was a beautiful orchestra of sport tuned exhausts and engine noises going through, up, down, left and right the Maracas hills. We then stopped at the famous ‘look-out’ point for some more photos, and snacks from the vendors. The weather was really good as well for the photo opportunities as well. We all chatted for a bit, properly masked up and socially distanced for safety.
After the lookout we then headed to the actual beach itself, and more symphonic exhausts and engine noises on the way. We then entered the parking lot and gracefully parked for more photo ops, and car-talk. Naturally we then went for the bake & shark, hence the famous line ‘you can’t go Maracas and not buy a bake & shark!”. The beach scenery was beautiful with blue skies and sandy sands, for some more photos which concluded a short but wonderful morning.
