However, the 'vtec is no good for boost', although not entirely true, has very strong roots in the truth... whilst a vtec head flows very well and loves the boost... it's the stock vtec cams that have an n/a specific overlap that tends to allow charge to go out the exhaust ports on the compression ...

lots of guys have added turbo-chargers to b16as without thinking carefully of the power increase, the amount of fuel req'd, or the bottom-end's limits. if the stock fuel pump (120lph @ 40psi) can't deliver the capacity necessary, or the injectors are at max duty cycle, or fuel delivery was limited t...

the choice of whether to pressurize or not, i think, depends on how much you can spend then. the cost, including time expended, can be prohibitive when building an engine. blueprinting/machining/honing parts, investing in forged pieces, headwork and valvetrain trickery, can blast a hole through your...

turbo-charging has often been unfairly blamed for many engine failures, and is, especially with the honda crowd, considered unreliable , or at least less reliable, than an n/a project. but detonation and/or inattention to bottom end power limits, has claimed many n/a builds as well. whether turbo-ch...

But this goes for all cars with the MAF sensor right? hey nissan-man ... BOVs and RCVs both function to keep the centrifugal compressor away from it's surge point (for a given speed)... both prevent the reversals that accompany the decay in flow pattern at the discharge volute, seen during surges. ...

cams just let the motor breathe at higher RPMs Higher CR adds torque. Is this why a CRVTEC with low compression arrounnd 9:1, has LOADS more TORQUE than a ls/vtec b18 with like 11:1 CR? Keep misleading please. :) kes_vtec 's statement’s not inaccurate, just incomplete … perhaps he didn’t thin...

^^^that said... short-rod motors are not lumps! pistons are accelerated more quickly in mills with low rod-ratios, than in motors with similar stroke lengths with higher rod-ratios. the result - higher port velocities at low engine spds, this being the secret to the higher, low-spd torque outputs fo...

stephanweaver is right... high reving mills always start with bottom end configuration. rod-ratio determines the engine spds a motor can be accelerated to safely. this certainly seems 'ass-wise', but piston side-loads, as well as piston spds increase with low rod-ratios... the higher the short-rod ...

As mentioned before it,s not recommended that you mill a Honda cylinder head more than 50 thou. max.You definitely will need an adj.Cam Sprocket/Gear(Edelbrock/Unorthodox Racing). If you got dollars go with a set of high- compression pistons(Arias/SRP)10.5-11.0,if your engine has Vtec a Crower stage...
