Re: Amazon (DHL) or Skybox?

it's rechargeables I ordered btw. Was looking for something long term and more sustainable. My big concern is what people here were talking about all fees are paid upfront and you pay nothing to receive your package. I am not a prime member as someone suggested previously but I am paying import taxe...

So the $9.95US that amazon charge me for import duties was for what?

item: $15.99
international shipping flat rate: $5.00
import taxes and duties: 9.95

And now I still have to pay duties and VAT? plus processing fees?

NAH I'll stick to buying my imitation china batteries by d shop.

Re: Amazon (DHL) or Skybox?

I tried this option of using DHL to ship some rechargeable batteries that cost a total of $30USD (item + shipping + taxes). Got an email yesterday from DHL that I owe $172TTD to receive the package. I thought fees were paid upfront? Anyways...definitely NOT worth it to pay 30US + 172TT for batteries...

Re: Can a large company create their own Sick Leave policy?

Thank you all for your responses but my question is really about when is a sick leave required. I am entitled to 14 days SL as the law states but the Company's policy states that I must present a Medical Certificate (Sick Leave Certificate) if I exceed 7 of the 14 days. It doesn't matter if I take ...

Can a large company create their own Sick Leave policy?

Hello to All, I have a question as the topic says about sick leave. Now as far as I know, the law (according to the industrial court of T&T website) states that an employee is entitled to 14 days paid sick leave per year and further specifies that if an employee is absent for 2 or more consecuti...

Re: Flow Internet Thread

I can definitely say it's nothing with equipment because I called Flow and spoke to a CSR that admitted they switched from a public IP to a private one for security and stability issues. He said that port forwarding / dmz will no longer work on my package but he still sent my issue up the line.

I appreciate the fact that some of us here are trying to promote a society of unity and collaboration but many if not most of those immigrants are displacing locals from jobs by underselling themselves. I know it comes down to the business owner's cost and cheaper is better for him but many locals a...

Trinidad has become a Free For All. Chinee, Venee, Guyanee and don't forget them Up the Island ones that the PM allow.

If it were the other way around would Trinis have that freedom?

Re: UTT B.A.Sc / B. Eng / B. Tech a load of BS?

Another subtle way that companies say that they don't want a UTT degree for an engineering position is that when a vacancy arises for an Engineer, their first requirement is a B.Sc in the decipline. NOT a B.A.Sc

...And who offers a B.Sc in engineering? That's right - Only UWI.

Re: UTT B.A.Sc / B. Eng / B. Tech a load of BS?

OK let me say this: I know for a fact that several of the major companies in Pt. Lisas do not accept UTT degrees for engineering positions. One particular company actually sent out an internal memo stating that these UTT degrees in engineering is not recognized.

Lol, thanks for the replies but I would really like to hear from people who has completed the degree or know of someone who did.

It's amazing that these degrees are even being allowed to continue knowing very well that there is little to no opportunity for the grads.

I want to hear from actual graduates or co-workers of graduates from such degrees. As far as I know, none of the major companies in the oil and gas, po...
