Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

Greenhouse farming does exists locally, however it is not popular because our climate is not conducive for such operations. What are more popular are Shade houses, covered top open side designs. Interacted with several persons regarding Greenhouses and most say that Trinidad is too hot for those ful...

Planted Broccoli, Cauliflower and Cabbage on a small scale. Yes they can be grown locally, same management practices for all except to the point when the head starts to develop. Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

ED so all that spraying yuh was doing without the use of a respirator. Quite a risk you took. I share you views on swipering, easier to run through with the Wacker but sometimes the satisfaction of mastering the blade feels better. The best gloves to use are those white with black dots, good for mos...

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

Sighz. Remember the time it to see the effects of swiper on the grass. So expect the same wait to know how bad the damage was. Swiper is a systemic herbicide so based on the quantity of residue left in tank, it may kill or most likely staunt. One sprayer can be used for all operations (intensive ste...

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

I would assume that most agro-shops sell them, at least all I've checked from Valencia to Grande. Best price at J.Kasmali $2.00 per bag. Would get better price going directly to livestock farmer. Some does even give away based on the amount yuh want though.

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

A lot happened since I was last here, so let me just say pH test kits, best order online, those sold locally are more for testing pH of liquids and not soil. Like ABA said soil testing is done free of charge by the Min of Food, however patience required. (2-3 months of it). francis1979 For that type...

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

@X-Factor from here looks like an incidence of spray drift of fertilizer burn. When spraying consider the time of day when spraying. Best in cooler parts of the day, less wind. Simple as this, water settling on leaves at mid day is almost as bad as magnifying glass on leave = burn. When mixing make ...

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

@Francis1979 The first problem described sounds like a fungal problem, namely 'anthracnose.' The second could be insect, fruit fly. Fairly common pests of Mango so information about prevention, treatment and management should be available online. @ABA How exactly yuh manage to get that fella sitting...

Re: ***THE FARMERS CHED***

Good day to all, just checking in. Seeing some good advice here, keep it up. Marlener, best visit Rio Claro County Office cause Biche does not fall within the El Reposo, Sangre Grande bounds. Actually its just between but Rio Agricultural Officers usually handle there.
