Hmmn, A surf setup for bait with an 8000 would probably be 30-50 lb braid, and a 10-12 ft medium heavy action. Big water ugly stiks are really great bang for buck for soaking bait. 8000 @ 30 oz would be too heavy to use plugging all day unless you don't like your shoulder lol. Trolling with a spinn...
