fixed. ended up installing new ballasts as all the other components were in good order. in changing the old ones (right side to be specific) i found the wires fused together. possibly that ballast went bad and caused the wires to heat up enough to fuse....maybe. not sure how that affected the other ...

it flickers just like that, without the car being in motion.

just a point to note, with past experiences the fuses blew. this time they are ok. i will check the alternator, although the car starts fine, and idles ok with or without a/c

I already took off the drive shaft and had the cross on both ends changed. The mech didn't say anything about the condition of the center bushing though... can these be repaired or do they have to be replaced altogether?
