Question on b16a engine seals?

Postby VexXx Dogg » February 26th, 2007, 1:02 am

Engine: b16a

Apparently oil leaks are common with the b16a, and I have one that I want sorted asap.

but I dont want to fix one for another to pop up soon after, that is why i am thinking of replacing all the possible seals ONE TIME (is a 93 EG nah...she a lil old)

which brings me to my question...

What are the seals i would need to do this?

I only know of the VTEC solenoid seal and the dizzy seal (both of which are my problems anyway ), what others would i need to change, that would cause oil leaks?

I know my valve seals good (no smoke..knock on wood)

I just wanna keep her running smoothly for as long as possible.

all the seal names and average price are greatly appreciated.

Thanks fellas

^^ added to ur list

camshaft and crankshaft seal (may require timing belt removal so u can take opportunity to do timing belt/tensioner, water pump)
rear engine seal (may require taking down gearbox)

full engine kit

as you will be decarbonizing as well

includes all the seals head gasket intake and exhaust manifold gasket
kit will also inlcude vtec solenoid seals and filter

recommend repalcing water pump and the oil pump

timing belt spring and tenshioner

repalce all other belts as well

check adah303 on this forum for a good deal on the full kit and all the parts you
require
when done do an injector service then change plugs and oil

dont change the oil and plugs before doing the injector service

once your engine is healthy it compression ratio is balanced across the cylinders and shows no signs of leaking rings then with this service being doen wou willhave noticable increas in power and should give you another 100k easy

not yet unless the engine has seen some abuse

regular oil change etc and check your belts

maybe an injector service

and replace gas filter

at my 100k service i compared ADAH_303's prices to those at classic motors for all the engine seals listed here and found his prices to be approx. 50 percent of the classic price :!: only valve seals were close, at 70 percent of list  :D
additionally, i replaced my exhaust cam sealing plug, just behind the vtec solenoid valve/pressure switch, with a billet aluminium piece, fitted with two o-ring seals... got said plug seal for USD25 and thought it to not be a bad investment.
