Ek3 help

Postby shermantank » October 14th, 2013, 1:26 pm

Yo tuners I have an ek3 civic...had it some months now but the previous owner never changed the timing belt wen they changed the engine as they said it was good....I like my car running smooth and currently considering changing the timing belt to avoid future headache cause I feel like I driving like I guessing and hoping....

I need some advice here....what are the signs of a timing belt going bad?
Should I change the timing belt now?
What kinda cost am I looking at? Price of the belt and labor?

Thanks in advance...

Last time i changed mine was $1200 with labour included. Yes you can change it one time cuz the cost if it bursts or skips a tooth while in high rpm is a new head and or block(depending on the price)
When changing timing belt you must change water pump and tensioner pulley as they wear evenly or more or less have the 100k life span. For piece of mind and a small feel.......you would be on the road comfortably after. if you want while the mechanic is there let him change the crank seal. just for good measure.

you should change all the belts timing, tentioner, alternator & ac one time ...then you can properly manage your next belt change...gates super grip is a good aftermarket brand....
