One report received locally, but we don't have details. Could be a bad/faulty unit from JP.

Change trans fluid every 20k. Change DCT fluid annually.
Both cost about 400 to do with oem fluid.

It’s not the fob. It’s a different icon for battery fob. My own observations whenever I unlock vehicle with fob warning light doesn’t come on. If I use the door handle and unlock with the sensors in the handle it comes on. But still trying to troubleshoot to make sure.

@Sharadu, it is most likely the start button.
Check a good/experienced mech, and have them remove/clean the contacts.

If that does not work, you may have to replace it - but the mech should be able to better advise.
I found the part number on Partsouq.
35881T7AJ01 (2015/17 MY)
35881T7AJ02 (newer)

You might need to confirm the partnumbers if you need to replace.

Good day people. For any owners of the local HRV. Is this vehicle a better buy than the foreign vezel? I am looking at the reliability in terms of engine and transmission, not features. Thanks

Good Day,

I'd say its up to your personal preference.

They're both excellent vehicles, however with the HRV you are certain to get support locally in terms of parts and Hard to get items. Also, you may be able to get a better idea of the service history of the vehicle. The con would be lack of features which are only available on the Vezel and reduced fuel economy.

The Vezel is much cheaper, due to the Tax breaks, by no means is it a cheap vehicle. Maintenance wise, there are some things unique to the Hybrid vehicle and drive train but nothing that breaks the bank, unless you get a major component failure(would be the same for the HRV). A proper service regime will mitigate this for both vehicles.

The HRV carries a 1.8 engine with a CVT transmission while the Vezel(Hybrid) carries a 1.5 engine mated to a 30HP electric motor and 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission, The Non-Hybrid carries the same 1.5 engine but its mated to a CVT transmission. Honda makes the best engines in the world so that should answer engine reliability. The transmissions, there have been reports of failures in both types (CVT & Dual clutch) but not common. This can be mitigated via a proper maintenance regime as stated before.

I've been a Vezel owner for 5 years, with no regrets. i've put over 100k kms on it from new.

That being said, the choice is yours, either way you not making a bad buy.

May not be the same in your case but one time i saw an error like this is because one of the passive sensors used by the system (in my case the trunk sensor) needed to be cleaned and reseated. A quick diagnostic scan should point you in the right direction.

The local HRV will certainly have better parts and support.
The Vez is Japan specific, and some parts are limited to that side of the globe.

My experience (18 months on a used Vezel 2015/Z ) has been positive thus far.

Nice review just want to add there is another option which is the non hybrid vezel jdm import... You get far more features Than the Hrv without the hybrid system and the somewhat radical transmission (dct) .. However it's not the identical engine to the hrv... I believe it's a 1.5 earth dreams mated with a CVT....the late 2017 onwards also have the sensing suite.

Postby lordofchaos » January 22nd, 2020, 6:02 pm

hi i got a 2016 4wd vezel that has a factory remote start , however when start button is pressed all i hear is a beep from inside the cabin, the remote battery is ok, any one have any idea how to get this working,or if it needs to program

I talked to a couple vezel owners and no one knows anything about it and the supplier who sold the vehicle in Japan dont seem to know anything .

Might be an aftermarket thing.
For start to function normally, the key needs to be in close proximity to the car (obvious security reason)

Try sitting inside the car and using the remote start. It's pointless for use, but can confirm the hypothesis

Did anyone see the latest recall for software updates on the transmission computer?

https://www.honda.co.jp/recall/auto/cam ... _KC28.html

Tried translating it but it is unclear what exactly this recall is for.
Is it possible to get these updates in Trinidad?

All the TSB's I've seen show the chassis numbers of affected vehicles.
Does your car fall within the range?
There is no support from Ansa with ECU Updates. There are some third party vendors who offer the service locally, but I've no first hand experience with them.

Here's the translation

Service campaigns for 5 models including VEZEL
Overview
Content of the defect
In vehicles equipped with a seven-speed DCT type automatic transmission, when the hub of the first-speed gear in the transmission is worn out due to an inappropriate program of the automatic transmission control computer, the brake pedal is used immediately before stopping on a gentle downhill. If you release, the first gear will not engage, the transmission warning light will flash, the meter display will show "Transmission check", and you may not be able to start after stopping.
The start is possible by operating the power switch.

Details of improvement
Rewrite the automatic transmission control computer with a countermeasure program.

Measures to inform car users

Hello,

Does anyone know what the spark plug part number is for the 2019 vezel/hrv and is it 14mm or 16mm socket?

Thanks.

download the Japanese manual from manualslib.com.
Yes it's in Japanese, but you can use Google Translate app on your phone. And there is a page near the index in the back with all the specs for fluids and lights and spark plugs etc. It's readable in English because they specify the part numbers.

The Honda Japanese vehicles that are coming with the dual clutch transmission. You MUST change the trans fluid every 20,000 km. You must do it or else the transmission will f*ck up bad, and that's near unfixable. The first signs that it's getting too late for this are that the car may start jerking a bit as it shifts up or you may hear a strange grasping sound as it changes up from 1 into 2nd gear.

Use ATF Honda Genuine DW-1. You also need to flush and change the clutch engagement fluid at the same time. You need DOT4 fluid for that. This is a very serious issue that the RORO dealers not telling people or they're not aware. That is how you can see a few Vezels for sale and with a broken transmission. To replace a dual clutch transmission is a big time expert job that costs a LOT of money.

If you bought a Honda RORO, get the transmission fluid changed now! Do not wait. Change the engine oil 0W-20 every 8,000 to 10,000km. Change the brake fluid as well. Let a qualified mechanic do an inspection and an OBD scan. You may find some seals leaking very slowly with RORO cars that are not visible stains under the car. Always remember that your vehicle was knocking dog for about 120,000 km in Japan or Sri Lanka before it got here, despite what the odometer says.

Good stuff there maj tom. Do you own a Vezel yourself?

I saw a hybrid technician on FB mention that it's not only this vehicle but the Grace and Fit hybrid models that require the clutch fluid change as well.

maj. tom wrote:The Honda Japanese vehicles that are coming with the dual clutch transmission.
