Tyre question.

Postby Premier Marketing » October 4th, 2021, 9:24 pm

I have a 2004 cs3a lancer in which I have enkei 17 x 7 wheels on. I recently changed tyres about 2 day now ( all 4). Brand I had was ovation 205/45r17 and now I have farroad 205/45r17. My tires are not stretched in any way and my tire pressure is 30 psi ( same as before when I had the ovation tires). Driving them they are smooth and quiet but for some reason I feel when I step on the gas the car feels like I wanna slide of the road. This has never happened before when I had the other tires. Can anyone shine some light on what's going on here? Is this because of how they might be new or because of tire pressure or could it be a alignment or camber problem? Non of my wheels are bent and was balanced the day of the new tires installation. These tyres have a threadware of 320 and is traction a.

Thanks. I called them but they didn't give that as an option in the size I asked for.
Appreciate it!

Hope you sorted out the problem, normally when a tyre skids during acceleration its a pressure problem. Your previous set used 30psi but you should try 35psi and see if the problem persist remember different brands of tires perform differently and psi would vary with car types its not a set standard.

Hope this helps

Dread, it's buy rubbish, get rubbish performance. These no-name tyres can be found all side. I used them once and never again. In no time they wear uneven, noisy, don't stop well on wet road or dry road for that matter and traction is poor. Most people attribute poor performance to my aggressive driving but in instances where I wasn't even driving hard I had issues. Switched back to reputable rubber brands and never ever had a complaint. Chinks on rubber, chinks on your life.

I have noticed even some of the reputable brands are made in China and other parts.

It's odd to experience something like this with new tires.
Since wheel and balance issues have been ruled out, I would say it's probably the tire compound or tread pattern that is causing it.
The Farroad tires may be a little more slippery or have a slightly different grip compared to the Ovation tires.
Give them some time to break in (approximately 500-1,000 miles) and see if that resolves the issue.
If this is the case, you should consider a wheel alignment to rule out any underlying issues.
