Just bought a pair of Philips H7 X-treme power bulbs for the volvo..

Shipped from the Uk will cost me about $35US... I'm not sure about colour temperature but I couldnt be too concerned..
I place brightness as much more important for this application...

I've been running these in the wagon and jeep, since 2007.
Very little of my driving is done in daylight, and I'm very happy with them.
The only time i felt I was "driving faster than the light could show me", were those corners coming from Toco to Valencia. And i honestly don't think that was the fault of the lights.

Cool info. Still trying to get that daylight look from my lights, which is around 5000k on the chart above. Just don't like to see my ligths with that yellowish tint. I'll be sacrificing some visibility in the rain, but i hope the relays provide enough power to help with that.

Basically.. the set up I have on the Maxima shows the options best I will say

Originally was running all stock

Switched the low beams to Sylvania Silverstar Ultra 9006/HB4 socket ($31 US at the time) and while it emitted light at a marginally higher kelvin rating than stock, it definitely doesnt appear anywhere near as "white" as the product description leads on to believe..
Additionally, this is not a scientific test but I found light output to only be about 10-15% above stock

On the other hand, I wanted to upgrade the high beams as well but decided against the Silverstar Ultra... Instead splashed out the cash for a pair of 9005/HB3 HIR bulbs...
This was the complete opposite in terms of satisfaction.. The brights on the car are now about twice as intense as the stock without any additional power draw or troublesome wiring (HID's)...
Yes it cost me about $50US for the pair, but the results were phenomenal.. It doesn't try to replicate the white look of HID's and therefore loses no lumens to a crappy blue coating...

When those Silverstar Ultras burn out, which they will... I will put HIR's on the low beams as well

No need for HID's with these...

Google will hook you up once you use it..

Originally designed by GE, manufactured for years by Toshiba, and recently Philips has joined in as well..

Only works on 9006/HB4 and 9005/HB3 sockets...

Those don't look anything like the quality HIR bulbs made by toshiba.. Looks like some sort of horrible asian imitation and the fact that its blue tinted (and retardedly designed) makes me question it..

Proper HIR's have a bit of a bulbular shape but thats taking it to a new level..

And yes, I wish they made it in H4 and H1 for the accord, but I had to retrofit hid's on the low beam and Philips X-Treme Power H1 on the highs

I installed Silverstar Ultras in both my vehicles 1. Frontier and 2 Tiida. I did not see a lot of improvement in the Tiida but in the Frontier it was dramatic. The angle of the light was wider and I could see a lot further down the road. I would recommend then if you are having problems seeing at night.
Can not fit HIR bulbs and HIDs are just stupid in a stock housing.
HID A$$e$ who blind me at night.
