Idle Problem

Postby Altec55 » April 3rd, 2009, 7:34 am

Yea tuners,

2003 Mazda Familia Wagon
ZL 1.5L
5fwd (not conversion)

i had to change gearboxes cuz a bearing was bad and mechanic couldn't find the bearing here.

after the change i have a idle problem. foot off the clutch and in N, the rpm ranges between 1200 and 1500

press the clutch and it drops to normal 700ish

if u hold the brakes, after a while the rpm will slowly climb to a choonks about 1500 then it'll drop and go up drop and go up drop and go up.

any ideas?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Check all the hoses going into the intake manifold. Also check the rubber/plastic intake hose between the airbox and throttlebody for cracks.

Added to this, spray the im gasket and tb gasket at idle with carb spray and if the rpm shoot up you have a vacum leak
