For nissan and Honda Apexi Power FC cause it's that easy to use...Haltech is another popular Engine Management system alot of Nissan tuners use it, also there is the HKS F-Con ( facking expensive if you ask me )... But hey I eh know nothing about cars :(

For the 3S-GTE (Toyota) ppl, I have seen from the majority of owners who use standalone ems, the following seem to be the most popular, in no particular order:

AEM
Hydra Nemesis
Haltec E6K/E8?
Apexi Power FC
Microtech
Autronic

A select few also use Vipec, Motec, F-CON.

All of these have worked well but I have heard good things about the AEM, the Haltec and the Hydra.

ive passed through the greddy blue , ultimate , haltech ex9, apexi powerfc in my 4efte now lookin to go microtech.

in my experience i like managements u can tune from a hand held programmer , cause i dont like othe people driving my car,

also i look for sequential injection and direct fire ignition as my engine comes with neither

ive heard from a fellow tuner that the aem is pretty cool but expensive ....

i wish wolf made a v500 for my engine though :(

Not all ems's are created equal.
Piggybacks are nice, but standalones are TONS more versatile.

a lot of the newer standalones also offer
DBW support
CAN BUS integration
Launch Control
Flat-foot shifting

Things that you can look for:
Processor speed
Integration with Factory sensors as much as possible
Idle control
Boost Control
Integration with AC/PS/etc
Coldstart compensation
Map points for Fuel and Ingition (imho more is better!)
Number of Inputs/Outputs

Some manufacturers also offer plugin boards depending on the car/engine type, then again some do not - and you will have to get the EMS wired from scratch.

Points to remember:
You get what you pay for.
If you buy a piggyback, you will soon see the limitations of the unit
Good ting no cheap.
Support is what counts. It makes no sense getting an exotic unit if nobody has experience wiring it or TUNING it.
GET A RELIABLE TUNER. a standalone EMS has the potential of destroying your engine in one run if NOT TUNED PROPERLY.

Disclaimer: I am not a mech/electrician/tuner . I learned some of this in my quest for a standalone over the past year or so. I'm just sharing :)

Apex'I power FC D jectro, Apex'i PowerFC or AEM EMS would suit your application, it would show the full potential of your engine, as it is a full standalone an it has the same function as the regular power FC units but they do not reuwire the factory standrad air flow meter and you would have to use a mass air pressure sensor to monitor manifold pressure so as to calibrate fuel and ingintion accordingly, with a wide band O2 sensor you should be boosting around 4000rpm nicely.

see this link if it helps >>> http://www.full-race.com/r14/skyline-upgrades.php

hmmm sounds good

dont wana go stand alone rite now tho
mite wait till we transplant the engine in a cefero

check the psecs on the greddy
its pretty good most ppl dont use all its features tho

The GReddy e-Manage Ultimate is as close to a stand-alone management system as you can get while maintaining the best features of a "piggy-back" engine management; an economical price, the usage of existing sensors, the ability to easily alter factory settings and not having to tune from scratch.

But unlike the original e-manage, the GReddy e-Manage Ultimate is more refined, requiring specific application usage (which we are constantly adding application updates that you can download FREE via www.greddy.com Tech WebPages.) The benefit of this is, the included PC-based USB "Ultimate Support Tool" allows for even finer tuning capabilities, improved flexibility in fuel & ignition control and adds impressive data-logging qualities to make tuning quicker and easier.

The increased number of input and output ports of the Ultimate, along with new built-in adapters add many new options to the unit. In addition to standard e-manage airflow-based adjustments, the Ultimate version includes new and upgraded features. The Parameter Set-up, tab menu format of the Ultimate has improved direct Map control for adding and subtracting Fuel and Ignition.

The e-Manage Ultimate has the ability to switch between 2 preset tuning Maps (i.e. Street or Race program) via externally mounted toggle switches. There are Maps for Individual cylinder adjustment for both Fuel and Ignition. There are also options to convert injection and ignition systems (i.e. group or sequential injection and group or individual fire ignition.) An Airflow Output Map option even allows for airflow meter elimination. And when used with a wideband A/F Meter, the Air Fuel Target Map can self-tune an Injector base tuning Map, to speed up initial tuning.

For a list of application specific plug-in harnesses and detailed ecu pin-outs, please download the pdf (here ) Please confirm your vehicles ECU matches with the specified harness before purchasing.

The Greddy e-Manage Ultimate has built-in Boost, Rev and Speed Limiter-Cut features. To create super smooth operation, there are various fine tuning Correction Maps to adjust for;

Throttle Acceleration

Vehicle Speed

Water Temp

Intake Temp

Auto Trans Shift

Anti Engine Stall and Idle.

To further aid in tuning, the e-Manage Ultimate has improved integrated Monitoring, Map Tracing and Datalogging features far exceed any other piggyback controller on the market. Even when not connected to the software, 8 channels of datalogging (at 20msec intervals) can be recorded and stored to be reviewed later. With the Support Tool connected, over 30 channels can be covered.

Other new features in the Greddy e-Manage Ultimate include:

Improved RPM recognition

Warning Settings

Password Protection for individual tuning Maps

NVCS (Nissan)

VTEC (Honda)

O2 Feed-back

Clean Fouled Plugs, and numerous others in future updates.

Ideal for optimizing and fine-tuning for performance products like Exhaust, Air Intake, Intercoolers, Boost Controllers, and Turbochargers, the e-manage Ultimate fills the gaps between conventional piggyback and expensive stand-alone engine managements. All installation and tuning should only be made by a trained technician with proper air/fuel monitoring tools. (Some or all functions may not be compatible with some applications.)
