if th knock sensor is bad wat kinda problems wud a vehicle get?

Mazda protege bad knock sensor symptoms - it sends a safe mode signal to the ecu that leaves you in 3rd gear climbing hills. You don't get your 'kick down'. If you try to accelerate the car will do this slowly (More noticeably with the AC on) embarrassing on the highway :oops:
Guys with gearbox can unplug the knock sensor & run just like that, just use correct octane gas!!!
BTW, in the protege once it leaking the black stuff you know it's gone.

ecu will retard timing to a safer setting
reducing power and also ensuring safety of the engine
