Best battery to buy.

Postby Richard Marshall » June 21st, 2014, 8:24 am

What's the best brand battery to buy for an L24 engine? Need to buy one now. Could do with the Advice. Anyone owns an AC Delco also?

it honestly depends on the usage, if its just for starting the vehicle...
i say get an average priced battery that will get the job done with the best warranty

Ding ding ding. No point in buying an optima particularly with a shoddy local warranty.

Rocket gets my vote. ... You can usually hear the starter slowing down when it's dying which is fair enough warning for me. ... Track batteries usually die unexpectedly when you are out of the warranty period

The Pricesmart Everyready marine is IDENTICAL to the AC Delco Voyager Marine but sells for about $500 - $700 less and you get a decent warranty. I have the Pricesmart marine, which replaced my AC Delco Voyager and it has lasted for approx 2yrs now with abuse from off roading (heavy winching) and some hard pong.. For value vs performance, I would say this is the 'best'..

Cost aside, the best performance batteries I have ever used was the XS Power D series.. Can't beat those for kicking out massive current!

MAC 1000CA holding out the LONGEST in our Massey Ferguson Tractor... been 3yrs and still going strong... we used Yuasa ,rocket, track, power master and they didnt last no longer than 2yrs...
And its CHEAPER... $1000 for a 1000CA compared to $12&1400 for the others

bought for other vehicles too

had two battery blow ups...actual explosions from the Track battery....both of them within a week of the 18 month pro rated period. another time the battery just died....broken connections on the inside i was told......but that was in the early 2000s. dont know if they improved. these events were on diesel engines

ever since...i have been using the rocket from laguhlin, and i have had NO explosions and these have lasted well over 3 years everytime.

laughlin also treats you with some dignity...not like lange that treats you like you maliciously arc off the battery to get 2cents.
