A/c compressor probs

Postby ryandtrini » March 23rd, 2016, 4:58 pm

Anyone having problems with their a/c compressor for the local corolla (NZE 141R) in terms of cooling?
Is this a defect for the model?

Same experience with my 141 A/C. The first major repair on my vehicle was the AC, ended up replacing the compressor, gassing up worked for about two months.
Works fine now.

I had the same problem. I received advice to change the solenoid on the compressor since this compressor does not work with a clutch activation mechanism and it's the solenoid that goes bad. The person who was selling the solenoid advised me that it was a 50/50 chance I was taking which I didn't like taking at that time.
So I ended up using the compressor from the NZE121 which has the clutch activation mechanism, same bolt up to the engine and same line up for the belt. The signal to activate the solenoid is used to activate the clutch and the lines need to be rewelded to use the 121's compressor connection. Total price for compressor and installation was approximately $2000.
Had it for about a year now with NO problems.
Cools excellent.
Good luck.

Hi the issue that you're having is that the solenoid has gone bad. There is no 50/50 chance as someone incorrectly advised the guy before. I can say this with confidence because i have sold numerous such solenoids and all persons to date have been satisfied. The cost of the solenoid is only $800 and having it replaced is simple and results in no downtime for your vehicle. There is no modification to your vehicle and you would not have to purchase a compressor at $2000 that was not designed for your vehicle, do modifications to your vehicle or have to pay to exorbitant labour costs simply to have this done. OP you can read more about the problem here...

viewtopic.php?t=656326

Anyway OP. Here is the breakdown:
NZE121 compressor from the NZE-FE engine - $1500.
Labour (Including installation line welding and regasing) $500.
Total time 2 hours, including the 1/2 hour the engine took to cool down.
A/C status over six months after the install... Excellent.
