Full Synthetic Engine Oil - How long are change intervals?

Postby mrreaz » July 4th, 2021, 11:37 am

Hi, for those of you who use Full Synthetic Engine Oil with brands like Amsoil, Motul, Mobil1, Castrol, etc - How long are your change intervals?

I usually change every 10,000km and have never had any issues, but for example, if you are using Amsoil Signature Series it says you can use the oil UP TO 24,000km under severe service.

Has anyone gone beyond 10,000km change interval with full synthetic, what is your experience and what would be the maximum recommended km change interval for our climate/temperature and driving conditions?

Thanks.

Without an oil analysis and us returning to our usual traffic conditions, I won't venture past the 15k km Mark with those 25k mile ones.
Pre pandemic our conditions would always be severe.

Most engines start to sludge after 10k km, regardless of oil type, and when using the thinnest oil recommended in the owners manual.

Also men that doing high mileage oil change intervals, don't forget your filter needs to correspond. Makes no sense using a normal filter that designed for normal use.
