Help needed with AC fan, Mitsu Galant GDI.

Postby Rudman » April 10th, 2006, 9:54 am

I making this post for a co-worker of mine who owns a galant.

He says that his AC fan runs at two speed. Lately, he's not getting the higher speed coming on. He changed a resistor leading to the fan, but this does not help. There is no overheating issue with the car at the moment. The connector to the resistor has 3 wires, 2 that looks like 12 awg and a fine wire, about 24awg. Two Questions:

1. Anyone had experience dealing with this problem on a galant before?

2. What is the purpose of the fine wire on the resistor connector?

Seems the blow motor resistor keeps burning wires going to it. Need to know where I can get a replacement connector going to that resistor.

Need to find the Blower Fan Speed Module MR460293 as well as re-wire the connection, looks like the wires are burnt out.
I opened up an old module I had, electronics looked simple enough was just a MOSFET transistor attached to a large heatsink (grey portion) and some basic control circuitry.

Fine wire is a control wire to determine how hard to drive the MOSFET transistor where the 300 ohm resistor is located. the heatsink is primarily used to cool the MOSFET transistor since it will be handling a lot of current and acts as the load resistor in series with the A/C fan blower.
