200JK- 2litre 4 cylinder engine (QR20)
230JK/230JM- 2.3 litre V6 engine (VQ 23DE)
visit trincarsforsale and search under nissan.......there are several J31's there where you could observe the various trim options that come with the vehicle.......
230JK/230JM is essentially different in trim, in terms of fabric or fabric/suede or leather, powered front seats with ottoman style driver seats or conventional manual ones, centre console, a/c controls, cd changer, generic or full colour centre display, keyless entry.......etc
Many differences.....if you buying then go for the 230JK/JM not that slow 200JK....imho that motor is too small to pull that big car effectively-----it works but the V6 does a helluva a better job at it!
The 350JM however is the Daddy of em all.........how I wish I could have found one at the time I was buying

i was going to put my little 2cents yesterday when i saw this post but i'm kinna glad i left it for today...
i also have a bmw coupe which is just to mention, the 230jm is my daily driver.
i had my own for about 6 mths now and put on about 12oookms
i got the company i bought it from to
1) change the entire a/c unit...dryer , condenser etc (the full works, they left it without gas when i got it and the condenser caused a catastrophic failure)
2) changed the front ends, brake pads, rotors, all 4 shocks
3) changed all engine mounts
4) changed shock mounts for bonnet
5) changed rubbers for windows because of dry rot
6) the only thing that i had to replace myself, and that was because of pure belief that the only thing between your life and your car on a wet road are your rubber shoes... i went ahead and spent almost 5 k on some toyo proxes ( which to this day are lovely)
with all this said....
i'm glad i have a good relationship with the ppl i bought the car from and that they have service infront of their skulls compared to other dealers....
i have owned several cars within my 25 years of life...from my first car being an accent (pink to boot...was my dads idea of a joke) straight to S2000, to benz to bmw....
for what it is...this is one nissan that when you compare to power, luxury , control, safety, maintaining, convenience and price...is def. an all round car.
its my first nissan also...
the lux features in my 230jm is surprisingly a nice mixture of features that i have had to pay thousands of dollars extra with another lux euro...eg...smart key
one other hiccup i do have however....is the fact that this car has a natural lowness that i still hate....i remember once i had 4 girls in the back of the car and my one male friend in the front and we went over a pretty high bump and the sound of it made one of the girls almost cry because it made her remember a time she got a tooth pulled at the dentist...true story....its also another reason that i haven't put rims on her...
its not bad on gas, for what it is and i only use premium
for the amount of cars i have be lucky to own/drive its doesn't handle like a bmw but for a percieved lower lux jap import...its holds its own on the road with straight high speed stability down to cornering...(had a vr4 converted galant last year and this jap import did some bmws shame)
anyways....back to the cefiro..
overall i love my Nissan Cefiro and up to now i have my other friends in shock with what my car has and does when i compare it to their other audis and bmws and mercs...hell i actually just had a friend buy a 230jm just cuz he liked my idea of getting a car with the package for half the price of a new euro
anyways
with all this said...
today i got a taste of my first problem with my nissan cefiro...the bloody starter motor konked out and its at the electrician repairing right now as i type this...
but hey...its a minor problem in my eyes compared to other problems i've had with other cars that i had owned in less the time than i had this one...
overall its a lovely car, i still haven't fallen in love with its attempt to be coupe like but looks for everyone is different...it'll be a little more to maintain compared to a reg jap car....its been quite reliable and gas savvy for it being a foreign used vehicle....and i like it
i don't know what else to say...
if you are thinking of buying one....
go for it...
the only hang up i had was that as soon as i got my foreign used ...the new model teanna came out ...which if i could go back in time ...i might have bitten the bullet and spent the extra cash for that...but....as the topic says...
the 230jm is a small dream to own and drive...and its clearly worth its 200k price tag
good luck with your purchase!

oh yea....the rear roller....
i only use it to block high beams from assholle drivers in the rear...never really have ppl in the back seat during the day...or in the night as a matter of fact....
don't let the rear roller be an issue with your decision...

hes just calling the rear roller that to make it sound fancy.
another thing, the glass around the car is laminated....so its not too bad with the direct sunlight, at least mine is...

yup that's hubcaps in that pic...........and I also have to grind like rapido when he stated that just after I purchased mine the new model came out.....grrrr........as for the model in the pic, the only thing I don't like about it is the space for the dual exhaust on that rear trim........that was another reason I did not opt for that model........other than that it looks good.........and hold similar sentiments to rapido wrt the vehicle.....that lowness is a beyotch.....I've had to change my front air diffuser shield already because of the stance as well as to strighten out the exhaust bracket (which for the life of me I don't know why nissan has this so low).
Solved my lowness right now by running some freakin' 215/65 on the 16's........so I eh scraping at all........don't know what'll happen when I bump up to some 17's though.....
and as for the rear rolling screen, well if you get it with the car then just great.........'cause not all of them come with it..........

oh and btw, the VQ23DE motor requires a minimum of 91RON fuel, so using super is just fine.........since the price increase I've been using super with no trouble.

although the engines can run on super safely i never did it.........i switched to super in the B15, and gas consumption went up, ended up going back to premium.........so i never bothered to try super in the A33.
i personally never really liked the J31's exterior styling.......IMO it's the Renault influence....and i dont like it...................HOWEVER the interior, is a very nice place to be.....good luck with yur purchase.
