Trouble starting on Mornings ( SR20 )

Postby Premera » September 28th, 2010, 7:15 am

Fellas and ladies, i have a P11 wagon with an SR20. I noticed a couple weeks aback on mornings when u tumble the car bucks and cuts off no matter how much i tumble and release, the car wont start. I keep my hand on the keys and keep the starter tumbling and after about 3-5 seconds the car picks up and starts to idle low at first then picks up to about 1000rpm.

This was happening before i changed oils and serviced injectors etc etc and continues to happen 2 weeks after a did a complete service. Only on mornings it happens.

Also, what causes a fluctuation in the idling ( hearing it in the exhaust )

Thanks in advance.

Clean your air flow sensor

Are your spark plugs good?

Did water happen to get into your intake while cleaning? (even a small amount like from washing an air filter and not drying it properly)

check the distributor, make sure its seals properly.
if there is any way for moisture to condense in there, you can have these symptoms.

Take out all the spark plugs, spray a bit of WD40 in each port in the engine, wipe the plastic part that goes over the spark plug with a cloth and put everything back together
